Soon to be a Netflix limited series!

From the New York Times bestselling author of The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo—"Reid is seriously a genius when it comes to stories about life and love" (Redbook). "A stunning first novel” (Publishers Weekly, starred review).

“Have you ever heard of supernovas? They shine brighter than anything else in the sky and then fade out really quickly, a short burst of extraordinary energy. I like to think you and Ben were like that . . . in that short time, you had more passion than some people have in a lifetime.”

Elsie Porter is an average twentysomething and yet what happens to her is anything but ordinary. On a rainy New Year’s Day, she heads out to pick up a pizza for one. She isn’t expecting to see anyone else in the shop, much less the adorable and charming Ben Ross. Their chemistry is instant and electric. Ben cannot even wait twenty-four hours before asking to see her again. Within weeks, the two are head over heels in love. By May, they’ve eloped.

Only nine days later, Ben is out riding his bike when he is hit by a truck and killed on impact. Elsie hears the sirens outside her apartment, but by the time she gets downstairs, he has already been whisked off to the emergency room. At the hospital, she must face Susan, the mother-in-law she has never met—and who doesn’t even know Elsie exists.

Interweaving Elsie and Ben’s charmed romance with Elsie and Susan’s healing process, Forever, Interrupted will remind you that there’s more than one way to find a happy ending.

Reseñas de la Crítica

"Julia Whelan narrates this portrait of love and grief with raw emotion that immediately pulls listeners in. Weeks after a meet cute, Elsie and Ben are in love. Five months later, they’ve eloped. Nine days after that, Elsie’s world is shattered when Ben is hit by a truck and killed. Elsie not only has to face a new reality, but also a mother-in-law who doesn’t even know she exists. A recently recorded conversation between Whelan and the author follows, in which the two reflect on how their careers have evolved. As Whelan describes a memory of her experience with this book, originally published in 2013, fans will recognize it as the likely inspiration for a moment she wrote into her own book THANK YOU FOR LISTENING."

The narration was great but the story was.. boring? It started off with a bang and then the rest of the time I kept waiting for something interesting to happen but nothing did.

Ehh…

You can’t go wrong with Julia Whelan’s narration but I’m a new fan of this author. I felt myself feeling all of the emotions of the characters. Great writing and story.

I love this book. The story was dad and happy, wonderful and tragic, and I love to every character. I also have decided that any book narrated by Julie Whalen is off! A bad book can’t become wonderful if she. I started looking for audiobooks that she married because I know they’re going to be gone. I love Taylor, Jenkins, Reid, and every book of hers I’ve read I love and this one is Felix

This book was the last book I had to read of Taylor Jenkins Reid, and it did not disappoint at all. All of her books are so great at personifying her characters. To any aspiring writer, She is a great example of detailed and realistic characters, and that is a large reason she is so successful. She not only portrays the best in these characters and how impressive they are like Evelyn Hugo or Carrie Soto, but also their weaknesses and worst times. We see their darkest moments, and it gives them so much more depth. I also love the layout of this book, similar to Maybe in Another Life, in that it switches back and forth in time without being confusing at all, and the closer you get to the end, the more the pieces fall into place and begin to be understood. This book really hit home the severity of loss of a spouse or child and what coping through those experiences can look like. In fact, I have been writing or trying to write a story that deals with loss of loved ones and this helped me tremendously to put together pieces to make it better. I recommend this book so much, and the audio version was fantastic as well. Taylor Jenkins Reid never misses.

TJR does it again!

You can definitely tell this was her first novel. The story is a little choppy for me.
Also, although the narrator is very good, I think TJR needs to mix it up a little bit. I have listened to several of her books back to back, and because the narrator is the same, both her female and male voice, I keep thinking back to the other books. This was also a consensus in my book club.
Overall, enjoyable first novel though!
