Absolute Enjoyment

I really enjoyed this well crafted story and appreciated the narration.
The Australian bush and birds are different from anywhere else
on earth and were well portrayed.

Mildly Entertaining

I really didn’t enjoy listening to the narrator. I felt his voice distracted me too much. The story was only ok and I struggled to finish.

Excellent storyline but...

I loved the plot and didn't listen to a sample before I bought the book. I wasn't however a fan of the narrator and felt that let the overall experience feel like I was listening as a chore. I found the male narrator struggled with the tone and pitch for the predominately female cast of characters. This on top of his very thick Australian accent had me struggling with the book. This was only my third audiobook and has made me realise how much of an impact the narrator can have on the delivery of a book.

Very interesting a bit spooky

I did not pick the ending at all but the bush setting made it very convincing I hope Aaron appears later in another story.

Tedious

Narrator is so-so. Story however is tedious and the characters are trite, corny, childish. Yo-yo between the 2 main plots is tiring. Wanted good Australian fiction but didn’t find it.

disappointing

i really loved The Dry which i read in paperback. im disappointed with this one but i think it's the narrator's voice. it lacks inflection and just drones on. might be better if i read it rather than listen

An intriguing & well told story

I really enjoyed this book and found it almost as good as The Dry which I loved. The way it’s told as a dual story works really well and I could not guess what the ending might be. The characters have real depth and the story telling style is natural. Highly recommended.

Bit Average

There are a lot of books to choose from in the mystery/crime genre. I found this one to be only average. I think it would have benefited from the use of 2 readers, the other being female. I found the reading a bit limited and although the novel itself is average a better reading would have lifted it.

Excellent Aussie Novel

Jane's first book was fantastic and this one had a lot to live up to. I found it very good to listen to well written and narrated I hope that there are many more to come in the series.

Lost me a bit...

A good book overall but the story moved back and forth too much for me. I had to re-listen a few times. But others may not experience the same thing. Love the narrator, just excellent.
