The mystery is more character-driven than clue-board. Semi-spoiler: what’s “missing” isn’t just a file—it’s Christine’s belief that her version of events matters. The confrontation with Mr. Reynolds (you’ll spot him) isn’t explosive, but it is satisfying because Christine finally chooses her voice over validation. Mason’s backstory adds just enough grit to make his support believable, not saintly.

The middle sags for a chapter while we chase a red herring, and I wanted one sharper consequence for the antagonist. But the payoff—a public moment where Christine owns her narrative—felt honest.
