Publisher's Summary

An all-new stand-alone from New York Times best-selling author Julia Kent

It all started with the wrong Help Wanted ad. Of course it did.

I'm a professional fluffer. It's not what you think. I stage homes for a living. Real estate agents love me, and my work stands on its own merits.

Sigh. Get your mind out of the gutter. Go ahead. Laugh. I'll wait.

See? That's the problem. My career has used the term "fluffer" for decades. I didn't even know there was a more...lascivious definition of the term.

Until it was too late.

The ad for a "professional fluffer" on Craigslist seemed like divine intervention. My last unemployment check was in the bank. I was desperate. Rent was due. The ad said cash paid at the end of the day. The perfect job!

Staging homes means showing your best angle. The same principle applies in making a certain kind of movie. Turns out a "fluffer" doesn't arrange decorative pillows on a couch.

They arrange other soft, round-ish objects.

The job isn't hard. Er, I mean, it is - it's about being hard. Or, well...helping other people to be hard.

Oh, man....

And that's the other problem. A man. No, not one of the stars on the movie set. Will Lotham - my high school crush. The owner of the house where we're filming. Illegally. In a vacation rental.

By the time the cops show up, what I thought was just a great house staging gig turned into a nightmare involving pictures of me with an undressed star, Will rescuing me from an arrest, and a humiliating lesson in my own naivete.

My job turned out to be so much harder than I expected. But you know what's easier than I ever imagined?

Having all my dreams come true.

Fluffy is a full-length novel and is a stand-alone romantic comedy from New York Times best-selling author Julia Kent.

Funny Second Chance-ish RomCom

Fluffy is a hilarious slow burn, second chance-ish romcom. I had several laugh out loud moments while listening to this one and it was fun from start to finish. Erin Mallon's narration is absolutely perfect and her comedic timing and delivery are second to none. She voiced all the characters so wonderfully that I had no problem distinguishing between them and I am always impressed by both her female and male voices.

I'm probably in the minority here, but as much as I enjoyed Will, Mallory, and all the supporting characters, I didn't love them. The humor was great, but became repetitive and a little too silly for me as the book progressed. I also felt like Mallory's inner monologue/stream of consciousness was too detailed and distracting. It was confusing and often made me forget what the original point was. I definitely think that readers/listeners would have benefited from having some chapters in Will's POV, since he seemed to run hot, then cold, and then inferno, depending on the situation. He was OK as far as romance heroes go, but the warm fuzzies and swoony moments were unfortunately missing for me.

Mallory also confused me, because she was supposedly this incredibly smart young woman who made her own choices regardless of what others thought, etc, but she never did anything in the book to back this up. She constantly ran away from uncomfortable situations and even after she decided not to care about the opinions of others, she still didn't stand up for herself. Instead, her friends and Will did it. I think I just wanted her to blossom and come into her own, the same way Rayelyn did.

Overall, Mallory and Will were cute together and I did love the John Hughes feel of the shy nerd and big man on campus falling for each other, but the proclamations of love seemed premature since they really didn't know each other at all as adults. This was still a very funny listen and I am curious to see how Perky's story unfolds next.

Cute and super funny

This story has sooooooo many LOL moments OMG! It is a really cute and quirky story, however I did not like how much Mallory was in her head. It was a little too much for me.. even in the last chapter she is still in her head about things that should not be at this point in the game… it was redundant and it got annoying. With that being said it was still super funny. Erin did a great job bringing Malory’s personality to life.

Loved it!

I love when I can really identify with the main character in a book. Mallory is the nerdy awkward girl who is just a magnet for disaster. Until... This book made me laugh, cringe, and sigh, then laugh some more. The narration was perfect.

Only redeeming quality is the narration.

Delightful Rom Com!

Fluffy is a "snort your drink out your nose" kind of funny. These characters are insane! Mallory is a house stager; the other term for her job is fluffer. This job title also happens to be the term for a person who gets a male porn star 'camera ready'. Poor Mal is unemployed (I can't imagine there is a lot of job opportunities for a professional fluffer) and sees an ad on Craigs List. You can see where this is going.

Mal is one of those girls who is super book smart and totally naive. Its cringeworthy at times for sure! She is also struggling with self esteem-she has no job and her 10 year high school reunion is coming up. She feels that she isn't in the best shape. Going to a new job to find out she is working on an illegal porn film and then getting arrested is just the cherry on her crappy sundae! Will is the owner of the house the film was being shot in and also Mal's high school crush. These two are adorable!

If you enjoy banter and hilarious supporting characters, Fluffy will totally win your heart! If you love second chance romance in the most unlikely situation, you need this book in your life! Fluffy will cause spontaneous laughter and reading enjoyment! While at times I thought it was all a little over the top, Fluffy is certainly a fun escape from reality.

Erin Mallon is a great narrator. She is one of my favorites and she did a wonderful job with Fluffy! Audiobook fans will enjoy this auditory delight!

Hilarious

This is my first and definitely not my last book from Julia Kent, it was hilarious and I enjoyed it so very much. Fluffy is based on a struggling designer that stages houses professionally until she took a job online that was not what she thought it was at all. Once she found out, her embarrassment didn't end there, oh no, it got worse when her high school crush showed up and added to the humiliation. Good thing for Mallory, Will had also thought that she may have been the one he was crushing on in high school as well. I did love the humour and there were so many moments I laughed so hard I nearly cried but at one point I wanted to shake Mallory for constantly crying over her former classmates and their behaviour and treatment of her. Just once I wanted her to stand up for herself and tell those useless former classmates just where to go!!! Overall thought the story was wonderful, the characters amazing and the narration by Erin Mallon bang on. She really got the humour across and the dramatic moments. A must read/listen for sure.

So funny, but now I need book 2!

Another super hilariously fun book. So many funny bits, talking about the search terms used to find out about what happened and see pictures on line. And then when the main character calls someone Hagrid's porn twin, I just about died laughing! Listening to this on my drive home from Branson and it made the drive fly by. I did get mad at the main character at one point when she was mad at her love interest for no reason, but as you've heard me say in past reviews, I know that is just how authors add the drama! So much I loved about this story, and let me tell you what, while it wasn't a cliffhanger per se for how this ended, it definitely left me needing book two, Perky.

Beyond hilarious!

Aah well I don’t read a lot of Julia Kent but man did this book leave me in a heap of giggles. I didn’t particularly expect to be laughing my ass off from the first chapter itself, but you know a book is good when you laugh this hard for this long. This entire thing was a major laugh-fest, and Erin Mallon did a great job maintaining the humour level in her narration.

Loved this❤️

I couldn't stop laughing!

Julia Kent can do comedy! She firmly plants herself near the top of my go-to rom-com authors after reading this!

If you're in need of a laugh and a book filled with a seriously unfortunate set of events, this is for you.

The best kind of rom-com!

An absolutely gut busting rom-com! Mallory and Will are the perfect duo to battle it out in this story about a high school valedictorian and star football player who find themselves bumping into each other back in their home town under the most awkward and hilarious circumstances.

Mallory was so quick witted but also comically naive. Her employment snaffoo had me laughing so hard! One of the best story lines I’ve ever encountered! Throughout the story, she seemed to have to fight for her decision to stay close to home after high school while everyone else moved on.

Will, the swoony high school crush of Mallory is all grown up and even more delicious 10 years later! He became a successful businessman but still holds some of that high school hierarchy nostalgia. It comes back to bite him in the butt when he neglects to stand up for Mallory after he asked her to their 10 year high school reunion. Then there’s groveling, lots of groveling!

This couple an instant ‘ship for me! I wanted Mallory and Will to figure out their feelings and admit them out loud! But the slow burn was certainly delectable! I loved the ending and the epilogue and can’t wait for Perky’s story!

Erin Mallon did an absolutely phenomenal job pulling off this narration. Her enthusiasm and emotion came through loud and clear in this hilarious story.

Quirky And Unique

This is a very unique story. I enjoyed it very much! It was a refreshing take on the romance genre. It almost felt entirely authentic to me. It was funny and quirky. It wasn't in any way cringy or predictable. I find that's where I get uncomfortable with romances. Especially the sexual ones. I can't express how surprised I was with the book. I can't wait to read the next one!

The narrator did a fantastic job. It's like she gave the quirky characters, even more, quirk and pizazz! I'm not sure if I listened to this narrator before but I definitely will again. I strongly recommend both the book and the narrator. I would also love to explore more books by this author. I have been curious about her for a while. I'm glad I finally gave her a chance!

A hilarious and entertaining story

Fluffy was a hilarious, entertaining romantic comedy that had me in stitches from beginning to end. I could not stop laughing and I could not put it down. After reading the prequel "Little Miss Perfect" I could not wait to see what was in store for us with this book and I was not disappointed. The main characters Mallory and Will had great chemistry together however it was their witty back and fort banter that really had me amused. Mallory's best friends provided additional hilarity to the story and all together they made this a fun, easy read.

I listened to the audible version of this novel. It was narrated by Erin Mallon who was a great choice for this story. She voiced the characters perfectly and brought the story to life with her timing and delivery. I loved her voice and enjoyed listening to her narration.

Fluffy was a refreshing second chance novel and I would highly recommend it to everyone looking for a fun light read.

Fluffy

OMG with this book! I was cracking up the entire time and loved it.
In continuation to the prequel “Little Miss Perfect” we again meet Mallory and Will but ten years in the future since their failed relationship start in the prequel. Mallory is nerdy and ridiculous in the best of ways. Her naivety makes you wanna face palm but can’t stop you from laughing out loud.
Will had grown to a sexy man.
Will this time work out for both of them or will they miss their opportunity again?
I highly recommend this series and can not wait for Perky’s book coming soon!

ohhhh, light, lovely, fluffy and funny

Erin Mallon does a stellar job with the narration. I was already comfortable with her from listening to the first book. It's lovely to pick up the same characters in a second book.

Oh my goodness I don't think I have ever laughed out loud so many times when listening to a book. I was glad I was mostly on my own when I was listening as when I wasn't I got some very odd looks, lol. I loved this book, so much I can't quite tell you. The story is great and the characters are brilliantly written. So much goodness in there. If you're looking for something light, lovely, dare I say it fluffy and funny then this is for you.

Funny, sweet, and so perfect!

This is hands down the best rom com I've ever listened too! I was totally invested from beginning to end. Not only did it have me rolling with laughter but the chemistry between the two main characters was smoking hot! I just loved everything about this book!

Erin Mallon's performance was amazing! You would have thought this was a duel narration because her voice for Will was so masculine and sexy! She just enthralled me and I adored everything about her performance! I really hope that she does Percy's story too!!

Terrible ending

I should make a note of the narrator so I never download a book read by her again.
The book was OK at best and the ending was abrupt. The last chapter should have been edited out completely.
