Publisher's summary

Motherhood doesn't have to mean losing yourself. Most moms are grateful they make the choice to be a stay-at-home mom (SAHM), but after a couple of years, they may feel like they're losing their mind. The alternative is going back to work, but that doesn't seem right either.

Flex Mom is for mothers who want a third model of motherhood, somewhere between stay-at-home mom and working mom. This third way is to be the primary caregiver for their children while deliberately creating a path that fuels their passions - leaving them fulfilled and confident.

Described as a melting pot of positive psychology and coaching, with the humor and honesty of Anne Lamott's Bird by Bird, Flex Mom helps moms make the fleeting child-rearing years their best yet.

If you are struggling, please check out this book

I came across this audiobook when I was really struggling with staying home with my kids all day and supporting them through distance learning. I found many resources online, but none quite like Flex Mom. If you are having a hard time being a stay at home parent or working while at home with your kids right now, please give this book a try. I especially loved the audiobook because I really felt like the author was talking directly to me. I felt understood in a way I can't really describe.

Flex Mom and author Sara Blanchard have inspired me and given me positive, clear, fun steps to take to work through the challenges and move toward more meaningful days. This is a book you are going to want to share with your friends.

For moms who love being SAHMs but feel lost in the mess of it

This book was amazing. It’s a detailed plan about how to be that primary care giving mom who still pursues her passions. I have been feeling lost being a SAHM and knew it was because I have a lot of drive but love being able to be with my baby all the time. This book helped me find the tools and plan to pursue something outside my family while still enjoying my time with my baby full time.

Highly recommend for all growth-minded moms.

The most relatable and freeing thing I have ever listened to. Mommas - give it a listen.

Going to buy a paper copy

Loved this text! I was a stay-at-home mom with babies #1 and 2, but was consumed with depression before baby #3, I decided to go back to school after baby #3 but was still home with him most of the time (unknowingly doing a version of flex mom life). Was surprised with baby #4 at the end of my masters degree and chose to go right into my career. Three years later I am seeing behavioral differences between my two older children and my two younger children and have tracked them back to differences in parenting. I started thinking about going back to being at home full-time but feared a significant relapse in depression. I accidentally happened upon this title and it shed light on why being at home the first time didn’t work, why working full time isn’t working and how I can prevent slipping back into a major depression when I decide to leave my job. Thank you so much for the insight that we don’t have to choose one life or the other we can do both just with a shifted perspective. Thank you for helping to alleviate some of the guilt I have been feeling for having spent so much of my family’s time, money, energy on my degrees and then choosing to stay home anyone.
