Former homicide detective and star of Investigation Discovery, Joe Kenda follows his authentic and fascinating debut novel with First Do No Harm, another addictive tale of crime and punishment as only he can tell it.

A string of overdoses in Colorado Springs has Detectives Joe Kenda and Lee Wilson on the lookout for a bad batch of heroin that has been cut with a drug they’ve never seen before.

Meanwhile, at Springs General Hospital, Dr. Blair Moreland—the notoriously unpleasant head anesthesiologist—has found a way to feed his deepening addiction to the very same powerful new drug: fentanyl.

But when Dr. Moreland starts supplying the dangerous painkiller to dealer Lula Lopez—planning to manufacture the drug himself—he angers a Mexican crime syndicate and sets into motion a cycle of death and violence that threatens to engulf the entire city.

Detectives Kenda and Wilson must track down the source of this killer heroin before anyone else can overdose—and stop Moreland before he can escape the long arm of the law.

This book presents an effective and entertaining story that provides a chilling example of the effects of Fentanyl in America. It is not without flaws, but well worth your time. If, like me, you are a Joe Kenda fan, you may wish that he was the reader. In reality, however, it required someone with the talent and skills to deliver a fictional story effectively. I both enjoyed it and found it troubling, which was clearly the intent. Thank you once again Mr. Kenda.

Kenda never ceases to amaze

I did not listen to the preview and it wasn't mentioned in the synopsis, so I didn't know until I'd purchased this and started listening that it was a fiction book. I wasn't aware Joe Kenda had done this or was doing this. However, after my initial disappointment the audiobook started, and I was instantly hooked. This was a fascinating story, and could very well have happened in real life, so I was won over very quickly. I thought it was absolutely Kenda-worthy. I really recommend this!

Got Hooked Immediately (see what I did there??)

It was just easy listening, I will read this one again. The story was very accurate about this new pain medication.

Kept my interest, narrators paced the reading in a way that was easy for me to keep up with.

Entertaining enough if not a bit preachy. It's a quick and entertaining summer read. Very good narration.

Another solid 4 star novel from Kenda
