When Dr. Faith Reynold stumbles upon an ancient skeleton that appears to have come from a dragon, she's completely taken aback. A woman of science, there's no way in her mind that this mythological creature can exist. But when a devilishly handsome man named Dimitri intercepts her path to uncovering the truth, Faith's curiosity turns into all-consuming passion. She's never felt this way about any man before. But when Dimitri reveals his biggest secret, can she learn to love the man - as well as the dragon within? Contains mature themes.

Great book but terrible narration..

This was another good read from the Dragon Kind series. This one is about Dmitri and Faith who meet at an archeological dig on the island that Dimitri ruled as the dragon king, eons ago. Faith has uncovered a dragon skeleton and Dmitri goes there to figure out how he could have left one of his dragons there alone when he sent all his whites across the dragon bridge.

Of course, the dark fae turn up and Dimitri and Faith have to kill them, but not before they kill two of Faith’s dig members. Feeling things were getting worse they decided to take the skeleton back to Dreagan, and things only got worse. This was the most exciting Dragon King book so far, IMO.

I do like that Ms. Grant moves from one person to another: From Rhi to Ulrik, to Mikkel, to Balladyn and Taraeth. It makes the book so much better and a lot more interesting spending time with the other players and not always at Dreagan with Dmitri and Faith. Oh, and I really liked the 2 or 3 conversations between Rhi and Con about Usaeil, considering how much they dislike each other. Are they suddenly allies?

The ONLY thing I absolutely HATED about this book, (other than the narration)? The hero was DIMITRI and Faith called him MUSCLES 85 times. Totally ridiculous! God, I just hate stupid pet names. It lost a star because I cringed every time she said that name.

There is explicit sex in this book and the F-bomb was used 12 times.

As to the narrator: I’m absolutely done with Anthony Ferguson. I gave him another chance with Smoke and Fire, which was released 4/5/16 and then again with this book, released 3/7/17 and still he sucks, no matter what his fans say. His women’s voices sound terrible and he doesn’t read with any feeling whatsoever when a female is talking. I had to give up on the sex scene it was so bad.

It's starting to get old

Would you try another book from Donna Grant and/or Antony Ferguson?

I've been reading this series since dark warriors, and nearly 30 books in, the story is starting to get old. What more do we have to do to get an end to this series? And the narrator nearly made me stop and get the book to read it myself. This is one of the worst narrations I have experienced ; the female voices are cringe worthy.

Would you ever listen to anything by Donna Grant again?

I'm starting to wonder that myself

Would you be willing to try another one of Antony Ferguson’s performances?

Only if I can be assured that he does not do female voices

Muscles...whew

I absolutely love every book I've read by Donna Grant! I never want to put them down until I reach the end. This one is no different! Reading her books and listening to Antony Ferguson's audio books are like eating chocolate. I can never seem to get enough. Antony Ferguson always does a terrific job of bringing these sexy dragons to life with his amazing talent. Awesome, awesome book and I'm anxiously awaiting the next one. Excellent series, excellent novels. Don't miss out on a single one! A 5 star performance for creatively written books.

Good not great!

Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?

I do think that listening to the book was time well spent in order to get a few answers and move the story along.

Who was your favorite character and why?

My favorite character was Faith because she was kind and open minded as well as a brilliant Doctor.

How could the performance have been better?

The performance could have been a million times better using a new narrator. Antony Ferguson is so played to the point that all of the characters are beginning to blend together. He did a horrible job with Faith's voice, which made it hard to focus on the story line. In addition, one is left with an anticlimactic feeling knowing that Con and Rhi does not hook up. I am beginning to lose interest.

Could you see Firestorm being made into a movie or a TV series? Who should the stars be?

Probably.

Any additional comments?

I think it is fair to say that Donna Grant is one of my favorite authors. She does a brilliant job! I just think the narrator does a terrible job with women voices. I would like to suggest that Ms. Grant obtain an additional narrator for female voices such as Victoria McGloven.
