Publisher's Summary

The fifth original novel from the much-loved space western Firefly, produced with Joss Whedon as consulting editor, set between the TV series and the movie Serenity.

Deadly disease

Months after Inara leaves Serenity, Mal and the crew finally learn the reason for her sudden departure: She is dying of a terminal illness. It is Kiehl’s Myeloma, a form of cancer that’s supposedly incurable, and Inara has very little time left.

A disreputable scientist

Through their shock and despair, rumors of a cure reach the crew. Expert Esau Weng is said to have developed a means to treat Inara’s condition, but he has been disgraced and incarcerated for life on a notorious Alliance prison planet.

An infamous prison

On Atata planet, inmates are abandoned with no guards and left to survive as best they can. What’s more, terraforming the planet did not take properly, so the world is a frozen wasteland. To save Inara, the Serenity crew must infiltrate the prison....

Can't get enough!

I just absolutely love these characters and cannot get enough of them. I love one of them so much just hearing she was tearing up, got me crying and completely invested in the story.

This is perfect Firefly

This is perfect Firefly. It is exactly what I turned to the TV episodes and now the novels to continue dipping into that Verse of the imagination. I think this is the best of the Firefly novels.

I highly recommend it.

Perfect

This whole series is phenomenal. The voices are right, the characters are right, the story is right, and I couldn’t be any more pleased as a fan of the show and film to have these books as a part of the world.

Great read

I enjoy visiting the firefly crew and joining them for their adventures. James Lovegrove stays true to the essence of the characters from the series. Their stories continue. Enthusiastic thumbs up from me. =)

Great addition to the story, but..

I would love to see more firefly books, but after the events of Serenity. The characters are fleshed out and primed to go into the future.

This story was excellent, and as always, our narrator has an eerie knack for voices, especially Mal. I would tell any fan of the Firefly 'verse to feel comfortable with this purchase.

Great Read in the Firefly series.

I loved every word, maybe my favorite of all the books. It fills in the story between the books and the movie.

Excellent

Excellent book. I was hoping for more with the ending, it felt a little rushed for my liking. However, still a great read in any case.

Always great to get back in the verce!

As these characters were cut short on TV, this leaves a great deal of development, worlds and stories to explore - this is one of them!

Give the sense that the film isn't that far away in the timeline, still this is as shiny as they come. more of the Goram same please.....!
