Publisher's Summary

Sammi Miller lives a quiet life as a pub owner in the Scottish Highlands - until the mob bursts in with guns blazing, looking for her ex-lover. Taking a bullet in the shoulder, she manages to escape and make her way to her half-sister Jane.

Hidden away in the mountain fortress of the mysterious Dreagan Industries, Sammi finds more than a safe haven. She finds Tristan - the most gorgeous, beguiling, and haunted man she has ever known. Newest of the Dragon Kings, Tristan fell from the sky in a snowstorm naked with a sword - but with no memories of his ancient struggles. When he meets the wounded Sammi, something powerful stirs within his heart. When he sees the dragon symbol etched into the bullet from her shoulder, something fierce burns within his soul. With his darkest enemies closing in, Tristan must take wing, take sides - and take no prisoners - to save the woman he's destined to love.

Good Story!

Another good story although I don’t like the blatant disrespect for Cahn and he’s the King of Kings and in other stories I have read where the scenarios are the same there’s always the at most respect and for the leader. They may have disagreed with his decision but they always did what the leader said. Also I hope as I read more of the stories that the scenario of changes a bit “Girl in trouble dragon king saves her ,she finds out she he’s a dragon,he falls in love with her she loves him,she runs away she gets captured he saves her.... I’m just hoping that scenario changes a bit. All in all it’s still a good story and I’m looking forward to reading the stories about the other Dragon Kings

Too many plot jumps

Makes me feel like there is a companion book that I'm missing. It gets confusing sometimes.

Same as book 1

For a second in the beginning I thought I was re-reading the first book because the story is so similar. But it was still okay.

I wanted to like it

It started off good, but then seemed to be rushing and half hearted towards the end. So unless they had sex in front of everyone after the rescue then there's a part missing. if you are able to make it that far through the book you'll see or rather hear what I mean. Also the narrator almost ruins it with his horrible female voice acting for the female characters. Ugh please get a different narrator for the female characters. And don't even get me started for when he tries what I guess he considers to be an American accent smh...

Tristan is Hot, Hot, Hot!!

Triston is the newest Dragon King to be made in an extremely long time. He has no past and doesn't even have a name. One of his Dragon King brothers names him.
Sammi is a pub owner on the run from the mob. After being betrayed by a close friend she has no one to turn to but the half sister she barely knows.
I fell in love with Tristan and was a little jealous of Sammi. They are two people that really need the love and care of family. And while Tristan tries to get his memories back Sammi is right there with him to help him deal with it all.

Decent PNR (stronger than first book)

READ (audio) 6-2016 (narration = ★★★; story = ★★)

Given that I'm posting a review for FIRE RISING in Oct 2019 after listening to it in June 2016; here's the quick & dirty per library journal notes:

Narrator: still great voice; overall narration better than #1.

Story: Downgrade 1 star for major fail(s) at end. Stronger than #1, even w/ insta-ROM (better core storyline) so try #3.

a must have

I don't know why these books have so little reviews but they are amazing. This has everything you could want in a book. You don't have huge cliff hanger their is an ending to the book but each book builds on one another. I would say give this book a try and you will enjoy.

love the Dragon kings!

I love how Donna Grant continues the story from one book to the next. The characters continue to have a part in each story so you know what happened to them as time goes on.

Disappointed

What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?

This is the same as book one, but only with different people and problems. The out come is also the same.

lots of talk, no action

Hi, unfortunately, I couldn't finish the book. It was painfully boring. I listened to a couple of books in this series previously and was excited to start up again. Sadly, I had forgotten why I stopped listening. The. storyline and characters have potential but nothing ever happens, just a lot of dialogue that is often so. grammar school, I had to cringe with embarrasment for the author. I have always been a fan of the narrator, in this book there were a couple of very minor voice change errors. If not for Anthony Ferguson's narration, I wouldn't have made it as far as I did. Sorry to be harsh, but I was so frustrated that the book I was looking forward to never materialized. I would not recommend this series,.
