Not the right Narrator

As a major fan of Clive Cussler series, I was majorly disappointed in the narration of this book. I'm sorry, but James Naughton's reading was monotone and lackluster. I'm sure the story was fine, but this is the first Cussler book I struggled to listen through. Bring back Scott Brick!

Paul Kemprecos

This was not written by Clive Cussler or even in the Clive Cussler style. it is very evident in the story. I am aware that Cussler sells his name to help get authors published and noticed. However, he typically chooses authors that stay true to the Cussler writing style. This was not. It had all the normal characters, however it struggled to keep my attention. If you are an avid Cussler reader, as I am, I would not recommend this book. You will be disappointed. Having said all that, if you listen to this book as if it is just an action book written by someone, it is pretty good. My disappointment is only in the fact that it was not on the grand level of a Cussler novel.

Sleepy time

The narrator’s voice would be perfect for bedtime stories. I was getting drowsy. He got better near the end. This is not the typical reaction one should have with a Clive Cussler novel. This story seemed abridged.

Marginal

The story line was good. A lot of macho corny lines to suffer through but I honestly think it could have been pulled off a lot better by the performance. The performer was lacking in inflections & intonations, etc. making this book hard to get through. I seriously doubt this book will get a "re-listen".

it said abridged at end. I missed that.

I'm busy with the Coronavirus. Life is anything but normal! Usually my books that I read and listen to are great distraction. this book never really captured me and was worth getting through if I'd realized it was a bridged I never would have purchased. that said the narrator is one I will never purchase another book that he has narrated

Beware abridged version

Purchased this thinking it was a new book alas it is not. Originally released in 2002. This version is too chopped up. Narrator kinda dull a lifeless Would really like my $$ back!

Fire Ice

Nowhere near as good as previous works. Almost seems that the author was in a hurry to complete this novel.

Abridged! The story sounds so lackluster in this shortened version.

Narrator has pleasant enough voice but the characterizations were all off. Not very good accents or female voice, plus loads of really odd pronunciations! It made me REALLY appreciate Scott Brit’s narration (which admittedly too me a while to warm up to.) Sorry but I cannot recommend this book and I will be looking into where “abridged” was listed.
