In a bracingly honest reflection on both his own past work for the Republican Party and the contortions of his former peers in the GOP establishment, Miller draws a straight line between the actions of the 2000s GOP to the Republican political class's Trumpian takeover, including the horrors of January 6th.

The stuff of conspiracy theories makes for great, entertaining stories in movies, books, and television. And there is no shortage of subjects: from who really killed JFK to the truth behind 9/11. And then, there are subjects from alien invasions to the Moon landing was simulated - theories that are truly out of this world, which according to some, is flat. Many of these crazy concepts have jumped off the pages or screens to become so pervasive in our culture that thousands - even millions - subscribe to them as reality.

Behind most major political stories in the modern era, there is an agenda - an effort by opposition researchers, spin doctors, and outside interests to destroy an idea or a person. The tactic they use is the Smear. Every day, Americans are influenced by the Smear without knowing it. Paid forces cleverly shape virtually every image you cross. Maybe you read that Donald Trump is a racist misogynist or saw someone on the news mocking the Bernie Sanders campaign. The trick of the Smear is that it is often based on some shred of truth.

I've listened to just about every substantive Qanon podcast & tv series out there (even some of those poor attempts at red-pilling -- better to "know your enemy"). The narrator in this one is one of my favorites. I find his narration compelling and the interviews he does are engaging. worth a listen, even if you've heard most of this info before. hope to see more work from this investigator.

Q-rious and Q-riouser
What a riveting investigation. Nicky and the team have done a wonderful job in bringing to light a shadowy part of the web where mere normies fear to tread. The series had the potential to be heavy-going but is leavened by Nicky's passion, humour, and refreshing honesty about what he has learned along the way. A particularly touching moment comes when he catches sight of the real, human cost of conspiracy theories, where individuals connected to Q followers have been unwittingly drawn into a live-action roleplay against their will. Their stories are respectfully acknowledged, with snippets of interviews with various family members of Q casualties.
The series is narrated with care and clarity, with some terrific descriptions of characters met along the way. Complemented by a positively Matrixesque soundtrack, the effect is vivid and visceral. The pulse quickens as towards the end Nicky finally catches up with the near-mythic personages at the head of the Q movement - my heart was in my mouth for much of the recordings on the ground. Scintillating stuff.
A word on the production: breathtaking. The story is easy to follow - big gobs of Blu Tack and bright red string - an incredible weave of soundbites and voice acting (an especially nice touch in modifying the "voice" of Q to give it shades of operatic, demonic grandiosity, perfectly capturing the affected lure for online followers), and the kind of intuitive side-kick swiftness that allows Nicky by turns to give chase to inspiration and to take stock in the aftermath - the series is beautifully paced.
An important piece of journalism that will not fail to enthral and entertain.

Who is Q?
An interesting and thoughtful podcast that sheds some light on this most perplexing of phenomena ... the propagation of a cult in plain sight, facilitated and ably assisted by the social media platforms we all subscribe to.
I would steer people in the direction of 'The Storm is Upon Us' by Mike Rothschild to fill in some of the gaps that are here but, overall, this is a really well produced and entertaining overview of the QAnon conspiracy umbrella (simply because it involves rolling EVERY conspiracy theory into one!) ... highly recommended if only for the testimony of a former disciple of Q ...

Q-Anon might have merit or not.
The problem with this nonsense is that the author doesn't care either way.

Very polished, quite interesting, but flawed
It's well worth listening to, I think Nicky Woolf has done a good job in explaining part of the Q Anon appeal, and influence, but I lost confidence in his journalistic skills when he dismissed the 'Gamer Gate' incident, as just young misogynistic, racist, and undesirable white kids having a tantrum. It's a very typical left wing narrative that only rings true if you believe what your told. Yes there were some jerks in the gamer gate issue, but not all of them, and to dismiss the movement so quickly and so decisively as purely bad shows a lack of journalistic integrity.
We are going to continue to struggle with people of the right wing of politics while ever we continue to demonise and ostracise them by presenting a partly true version of events that panders to and worse, pacifies the left. We need to value truth, we need to see that there are good people on both sides, and that there are just as many insidious, utterly fantastic ideologies, and cult like movements on the left side of politics. Until we do that, Nicky Woolf will have plenty more to complain about in years to come.

Captivating
Excellent investigative journalism podcast, kept me hooked wanting to binge it. Highly recommended especially for anyone who finds the madness of cults and conspiracy theories fascinating.

Louis Thoreaux-esque
And impossible to stop listening. A really fascinating listen, and while up to episode8, I’m gutted there aren’t more to listen to. A very interesting insight into how people get sucked in to Q Anon, as well as into a side of the internet I’d never delved into.

absolutely compelling and rather frightening
I started out unconvinced, but this is one of the best podcasts I have ever heard 10/10
