Megan Kimble was traveling a long way to find the next chapter in her life, one that would not include her brother, Matt. Losing him now was tragic, even more so since she had finally freed herself from the abuse and the shame of a bad marriage. She had spent years hiding things from Matt, so he wouldn't know about her horrible life. Keeping her secret world of bruises, cuts, and broken bones, much like the one she now sported with a large white cast.

Dealing with her loss was hard, but, now she was thinking of taking over Matt's new business venture. This could be the fresh start she needed, a new town, a new place to forget the pain and maybe she could learn to trust again.

Todd Jordan was a successful businessman, who had once lost it all, and now he had just lost his best friend and business partner. But, then she came into town broken and scared, and for the first time in a long time he was looking forward to his future. Breaking down Megan's barriers would take patience and strength, and he would need that strength to keep what he loves safe.

Overall, it was a nice story. My biggest issues lie more with the pacing. It was way too fast and the guy, at least to me, seemed too pushy and quite thoughtless. He would say that he would take it slow but then rush like a madman. I do not see him as a feminist lead-more like a lead from the 80's. Also-no talk of consent. I mean at least an "Are you sure?".

Feminist grade: C+

I really enjoyed this book. Sweet romance with wonderful characters you grow to love and care about. Excited to read the rest of the series. The narrator was great also.

Sweet and fun story

Any additional comments?

I really couldn't find anything special about this book. It was a little wordy and a little boring at times. I thought there would be a bit more trouble from Megan's ex but nothing happened until about 90%, although the author did make him seem as crazy as a loon. I liked Todd because he was pretty patient with Megan but I think she was ready to just have a sex life with Todd until her ex attacked her then, suddenly, she loved him.
I really liked Iian and Lacey but I didn't like them enough to read their books.
Oh, and this is definitely NOT a christian book. There was some pretty good sex goin' on.

As for the narrator: Ms. Eby did a good job. All her men do sound the same but at least they do sound like men. That's all I ask. When a man sounds like the female narrator it's really bad when they have sex. UGH!

Just OK for me..

This was a story about surviving trauma and getting a new life. This has broken people in it which I love. Spice was lightish. Definitely a slow burn. Narrator did a good job.
