Story line

Tony's style of writing, I've always been a fan of his stories whatever his characters.

Great story, I hope we get to enjoy more with these characters. The tie in to historical events makes it so engaging and meaningful.

Great story telling

I love the way Hillerman develops the characters while weaving an engaging mystery. You feel like you know the characters in the story and really want them to be successful in their quest.

The twist and turns of this Hillerman story was excellent.

The narration of this unusual story punctuates how well Tony Hillerman can spin a yarn. George Guidall makes this story special.

Love overcomes war

The time line carries the story. An accurate description of the Viet Nam war, the mixing of many cultures, their struggles together and using their wits to survive. All that while learning there is more to family than what is on the surface.

Perfect narration

I was getting close to draft age when the setting of this story occurred. It brought back many emotions I experienced at the time.
This author can write a story that gets you right there in the middle of the action. The narrator delivers the story flawlessly.

I really like both the author and narrator.

Although different than Hillermans usual 4 corners setting, the story was interesting and engaging; so much so that I stayed awake all night listening.

Surprised

I was surprised how much I enjoyed this standalone. I was expecting a Leaphorn and got a good surprise.

Good connection to tough history.

This was not a Joe Chee story, but the style of writing and storytelling was very consistent. A very easy listen with a couple of twist to the expected ending.

It's good to have a book to remind us of the MESS
The US Government got into. We LOST that war and So many lives. For what benefit? Today Americans go on vacation to Vietnam to shop!
What a waste of $money and human lives. I wonder if our government learned anything from this tragedy,
