Publisher's summary
How come nobody ever sees Miranda Ogilvy - except one smoking-hot neighbor and one stone cold killer?
The tiny village called “Minokee” (Seminole for “alligators all over the place”) is chock full of mysteries like that, and like:
Who is the hunky neighbor, Shepard Krausse, how in heck did he find the invisible Miranda, and why does such a nice guy have such deadly enemies?
Who killed Miranda’s Aunt Phyllis?
Is Shepard’s guide dog, Dave, really the smartest guy in town?
Why does old Miz Cleary keep a loaded rifle beside her front porch rocking chair?
The big question for readers of this quirky novel is, “Who (or what) will find Miranda before Shep’s homicidal enemies do?”
Number One Mystery (2017) by Library Journal Indie Book Awards
Number One Fiction Audiobook (2018) by Readers' Favorite International Book Awards, with multiple other awards.
Get Finding Miranda, book one of the Minokee Mysteries series. You’ll want to re-listen to it for a dose of sunshine whenever you’re feeling down!
Look for book two, The Mammoth Murders, coming in late 2019.
Critic reviews
"Meet Miranda Ogilvy, a librarian who is like a ghost: she is invisible, except there is a blind man who sees her and a hired henchman out to kill her. When her aunt suddenly dies, leaving Miranda an old cottage in Minokee, she leaves Miami. But this doesn’t resolve the problem as people still don’t notice her. Only a handsome neighbor and the man who murdered her aunt seem to be aware of her. The reader is pulled into a tale of intrigue, mystery, and corruption, and a strange woman’s life on the line. But can Shepard Krausse and Dave protect her from those determined to take her down?
Finding Miranda by Iris Chacon is a gripping treat for fans of the paranormal, narrated in an absorbing and clear voice by Joshua Bennington - and I enjoyed the drama and the pacing, well captured in the narrative tone. The narrator speaks as though they are actually in the story, allowing the suspense to come out clearly, together with the tone and the strong voice. I enjoyed the strong setting, the plot lines and the sense of mystery that permeates the entire narrative.
Readers will want to know what happens to Miranda from the moment they meet her. It’s hard to say from the start if she is cursed or if she possesses a unique skill that makes her live like a ghost, but whatever happens, readers are compelled to listen to the story to find out why she is the way she is and what might happen to her. Finding Miranda by Iris Chacon is an intriguing narrative, a beautiful story beautifully told. The prose is excellent, the pacing fast, and the character development stellar. It’s a very engaging story that will keep you awake through the night." (Romuald Dzemo for Readers' Favorite)

Recently widowed Jillian Hart is rebuilding a life for herself and her three beloved cats - Chablis, Syrah, and Merlot - as a quilter in a small South Carolina town. The quilts she makes are for cats as smart, special, and sweet as her own, and business is thriving. But when she returns from an overnight quilting show, she discovers Chablis sneezing - and since Chablis is allergic to humans, that can only mean one thing: Someone has broken into her house. When she realizes her Abyssinian, Syrah, is missing, Jillian suspects catnapping. Spurred by Chablis and Merlot’s mournful meowing, she investigates - and discovers more missing cats and a murder.

CINDERELLA LIVES IN A FLORIDA SWAMP
The family listened to a promotional copy of Finding Miranda while we were driving to my parents home some 6 hours away. My husband was not as crazy about it as the girls and I.were. Everyone listened to the audio-book. The story was a clean romance that was very entertaining and delightful and sometimes amusing and charming.. Iris Chacon wrote well and the story has a good flow. The girls and I really liked Mr. Bennington's voice . At first we thought audio book had two or three narrators, but then we realized that all those voices were from Mr. Bennington. That alone gave the audio-book a 5 stars.review.

This story was such a joy to listen to! The narration is fantastic, and I fell in love with Miranda and Shep! This is a mystery with lots of suspense and moving pieces, and intertwined is an unexpected love story. It’s sweet in a lovely way that makes you smile and feel connected to the characters. delightful audio-book romance
A nice clean romance set in the back county of Florida. Young lady meets handsome rich blind young man. They fall in love and live happily ever after. Of course they run into problems along the way! That's the story. Simple but charming. It was great to listen to it as I drove to work. .I gave it a 5 because I could easily understand the plot and still drive..

The invisible Miranda becomes the visible Miranda
A young lady thinks she is invisible to everyone around her but becomes visible when she finds love. The narration of this book was very good, he was able to give the characters life. The story line bounced around a little but then it is a fantasy.. I believe you will find the audio book well worth buying.

Wonderfully Entertaining Story - Highly Recommend!
I received this book for free. I am voluntarily leaving this review and all opinions expressed herein are mine.
This is the first book in The Minokee Mysteries series. It is a standalone story with no cliffhanger ending.
Here, Miranda has moved to a small town after inheriting a house from her aunt. The problem - Miranda is a wallflower - literally. No one remembers her or notices her - she is just part of the background. One day, Miranda sees a very attractive jogger, Shepard - who notices her, even though he is blind. Shepard is a host of a radio show - which covers conspiracies - and has a great guide dog in Dave. Miranda wonders what this man could possibly see in her - invisible to everyone Miranda.
From the blurb, I thought this was going to be light-hearted and comical - and it was but it is so much more. This book really doesn't fit into a box - it has romance, a dog, a mystery, political intrigue, humanity, and comedy. The characters of Shepard and Miranda tug at your heart and Dave - Dave will break your heart! The evolving relationship between Miranda and Shep is realistic, enjoyable and fun. This book is well-written and paced. I absolutely loved this book. Highly recommend!
The narrator was fantastic. He has a smooth deep voice - which is exactly how I believe based on the description, Shep should sound. However, he also does voices for all of the characters - and it was great how timid the voice of Miranda was at the beginning and then slowly changed as she got more courageous. His narration was a compliment to the written word and made the book so much more enjoyable.

Charming and funny romance.
Nice story set in central Florida. Easy to follow story as I was driving to and form work. I loved Dave the dog character and his actions almost human like at times. The narrator, Joshua Bennington I did not really care for the tempo of his reading and voice characterization, but overall I loved the book.
