Publisher's summary

From the #1 New York Times bestselling author of It Ends with Us, a novella about the search for happily ever after.

A chance encounter in the dark leads 18-year-old Daniel and the girl who stumbles across him to profess their love for each other. But this love has conditions: They agree it will last only one hour, and it will be only make-believe.

When their hour is up and the girl rushes off like Cinderella, Daniel tries to convince himself that what happened between them seemed perfect only because they were pretending it was. Moments like that happen only in fairy tales.

One year and one bad relationship later, his disbelief in love-at-first-sight is stripped away the day he meets Six: a girl with a strange name and an even stranger personality. Unfortunately for Daniel, finding true love doesn’t guarantee a happily ever after—it only further threatens it.

Will an unbearable secret from the past jeopardize Daniel and Six’s only chance at saving each other?

Hoover's Best Book

Without a doubt this is the very best book Colleen Hoover has written. It's sweet, funny and delightfully unique. The story of Daniel and Six is a bit of a cautionary story but they manage to work through their problems without the excessive angst that sometimes overpowers some of Hoovers other books. It's a short book but a real delight.

Not What I Thought

This story had me at hello, despite that it was about high school kids, something I’m not the least bit interested in reading. Also despite the fact that Jason carpenter hardly even tried to give any character a different voice., which I’m totally not used to. It was weird how much I enjoyed the whole book, including how much I liked all the characters. Daniel and Six weren’t your typical 18 year olds, nor were Holder and Sky. They all had smarts and depth far beyond their years. I’m not even sure what exactly it was that drew me in so completely but I totally enjoyed the ride. Kinda wish the there was a second epilogue, you know, 10 years later…

Could have been better

This book is about teenagers; 17 & 18 year old but the dialog seemed to be more like adults Teenagers do not talk that way. The narration was done by an adult as well which made it seem more unbelievable

ok

The story itself was really interesting and sweet. However, I didn't like the characters too much. I like funny quirky humor but the dialogue was kind of cringe at times. I also thought there was too much reliance on stereotypes to portray the characters. Daniel's whole internal dialogue about Six..."she's not like other girls because she doesn't carry a purse and doesn't wear makeup, and omg a girl fist bumped me and made a dirty joke, girls never do cool guy things like that!" The whole "not like other girls" stereotype is old and tired. I actually didn't finish this the first time because of how annoying it was and only finished it now because I want to read Finding Perfect, which I hope doesn't disappoint like this one did because I absolutely love All Your Perfects.

Good pre sequel of Hopeless

What about Jason Carpenter’s performance did you like?

awesome. I like his voice and his performance.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

yes and it's short and easy to listen

Any additional comments?

I loved this book because I got to see Daniel's POV and how he fell for Six.When I listened to Hopeless and Losing Hope I didn't care much of Daniel's character but after I listed to this one that changed. He's rather smart and funny and he found his better half in "Cinderella".
I liked the storyline though in some parts I could guess what was about to happen however it's a good book. I recommend it.

Daniel & Six

*****Spoiler Review*****

Audible review. Single POV (Daniel's). Book 3 of 3 in the Hopeless series. YA. The narrator does a great job. Unnecessary intro and finalé music. While I enjoyed the story it is completely unrealistic to believe that Daniel got over Six having his baby and giving him up for adoption while she was in Italy. Then when Daniel & Six found out that Sky had been kidnapped they didn't really question it, come on. Trigger warnings: unwed pregnancy; adoption without notifying the father; abduction.

The story begins 2 months after Dean's twin sister died. Daniel Wesley (aka kid) is Dean's best friend, he hides & naps in the janitor's closet everyday when he wasn't assigned a fifth period class. While in the closet a girl comes in crying and makes out with him, he nicknames her Cinderella because he doesn't know who she is (they never turned the light on) and they were in a janitor's closet. Then the story jumps ahead 1 year later with Daniel seeing Tessa Maynard (aka Val), breaking up with her, going to see Sky & Dean at Sky's house and meeting Seven Marie Jacobs (aka Cinderella/Six) who has just returned from her time away in a foreign exchange student program. While Six was away she had a baby boy, gave him up for adoption and never told the father because she didn't know who he was because they never turned the light on/exchanged names. When they realize who each other is Daniel is elated and Six is devastated, Daniel goes after Six, they eventually meet in the park across the street from Daniel's home where Six tells him about their son. Daniel is now devastated but quickly gets over it because he knows she didn't have a way of finding out who he was. After they've made up Six finds someone's search history on her computer looking up the story of the missing girl that she realizes is Sky. Daniel and Six go to Sky's house to inform her of what they found, Sky confirms it and then overwhelmed by the secrets Daniel blurts that Six had their baby and gave it up while she was away. They're all going to the same college with Six & Sky and Dean & Daniel being roommates. JP

disappointed

Too much drama and teenaged angst. the narrator wasn't bad. I expected more from the ratings.

Cute High School Story

For a short story, it was a cute story.

Of course, there was high school sex but there weren't any drawn out sex scenes or drama scenes. Sometimes high school books have so much drama it gets to be unbelievable, but this book didn't have anything like that.

I enjoyed the characters. Daniel was funny and I actually know someone with a similar personality so it was easy to enjoy the banter between him and his friends. I laughed and chuckled several times. There wasn't any major obstacle to overcome like ex-girlfriends or anything like that. It was just a short, cute high school story of two people finding each other. Besides, any story that can make me laugh or feel emotions towards the characters is worth listening to.

The narration was smooth and pleasant. I will have to look for more books read by this narrator.

Cute story but I forgot about the (spoiler)

I remembered reading this long ago and thinking it was a cute, sweet story so I figured I'd give it a listen. The narration was good and there were some giggles and happy moments throughout, but I forgot about the (spoiler involving a much-too-used much-too-common heavy issue) which is the main conflict in the book and I really, really dislike that particular path in romance novels, especially YA or NA. So that ruined my overall rating but the characters are great. Especially Daniel.

YA Romance

I liked parts of the book but there were some serious things that happen in the storyline that are treated too lightly. The ending was silly and flippant. It had promise but fell short for me. I usually like Colleen Hoover books but I would recommend you skip this one unless you are a teen.

Didn’t enjoy

Found this predictable cheesy and annoying. Didn’t enjoy this book as much as the previous books by Coleen.
