Publisher's Summary

Collins Drake exercises control over all facets of his life. From his business, to his relationships, to satisfying his physical needs...it all happens on his command. So when a woman shows up at his door and reminds him of a promise they made each other when they were just 10 years old, it shouldn't have the ability to rock his entire world.

Yet it does.

Because Mia Monroe wasn't just his childhood best friend, she wasn't just the girl he lost his virginity to and hasn't seen since, she's the one exception to his perfect control. And piece by piece, she's about to tear apart his carefully laid plans. This is book four in the New York Times best-selling Filthy Beautiful Lies series. It can also be listened to as a standalone.

Felt unfinished

The end felt like the author just got tired of writing and got up. No outcome of the girls' conditions, nothing....weird. Story and voices were great but just doesn't feel finished

Need Male Narrator!

Here is another example, in this series, in which I had to rewind multiple times because I lost track of whether I was listening to the male or female part. That just isn’t acceptable when the standard is to have both male and female narrators - or at least the one narrator needs to TRY to change their voice up some. Couldn’t finish and that is so frustrating. I would have been angry if I’d had to use a credit for this.

Cheater

Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?

It killed time. Thankful it was a short listen. Almost gave up, but rode it out.

Would you be willing to try another book from Kendall Ryan? Why or why not?

I was really disappointed in this installment of the series but because I really enjoyed the first three books of the series, I'd be willing to read another one of her books.

What did you like about the performance? What did you dislike?

It was ok.

Any additional comments?

I really disliked the heroine. I thought it was ridiculous that Mia shows up after 15 years of not seeing/talking etc to Collins and expects to cash in some promise they made when you were kids. Collins has been in a relationship for over 3 years, yet that does not stop Mia from pursuing him. His girlfriend is a terrible but still, cheating is cheating.

overall good

I really enjoyed the first 2 books in the series, but this one just wasn't the same. They are both suppose to be 30 but the female character acts immature in away with her thoughts indecisiveness.

Collins and Mia

A heartfelt and entertaining friends to lovers- second chance romance. Collins and Mia are simply perfect. I absolutely adored this story. Ava Erickson did an amazing job pulling double duty with the male and female characters.

Okay

The story was sweet but a bit bland. The characters were interesting.

I gave this book an “okay” rating because the writing was a bit stilted, as in I was taken out of the moment many times because I noticed awkward dialogue or phrasing.

With only one voice actor, it was often hard to tell if it was the male or female main characters speaking.

Good story and performance, BUT...

The whole series was good, but lost something on the narration with only Ava Erickson performing. It would have been tremendously better with a Male voice performing the Male parts.

Such a Perfect Ending!!

5 Stars / 3 Steam Fans

This is a spin-off for Collins who is Colton's oldest brother. Collins and Mia were childhood sweethearts, proposing marriage at five and a bunch of firsts shared before Mia's family had to move away. When things go bad in Mia's adult life she shows up on Collins doorstep to say hello to an old friend. Collins was already feeling the tension but had no clue when he couldn't seal the deal with his model girlfriend but answering that door, seeing Mia again, things started to fall into place. I thought the sexual tension was very sweet and sexy. I loved the appearance of Collins' brothers and their significant others. I also liked the journey that Collins and Mia took to get to their ending.

Enjoyed this series

Loved the couples’ story, their history...the story was well written. I thought Ava Erickson was the perfect narrator. She is very good at giving each character their own personality. She made the story a success.
