Publisher's summary

Not all lawyers are heartless....

Luke's life couldn't really get any worse. His parents have died; his family bar is failing; he's had to drop out of college; and he's now engaged in a custody battle with his grandparents over his younger brother.

Adam is a drop-dead gorgeous lawyer, representing the grandparents in the custody battle. He isn't pleased to be representing such snobby clients, and he's definitely miffed to be shipped out to the Midwest for this case. But all that changes when he meets Luke. He's handsome, charming...he gets Adam's sense of humor, and definitely deserves to win the case.

They're not supposed to even be talking to one another, much less dating, but both Adam and Luke feel a connection they can't ignore. Can they figure out a way to make it work? Or will the case - and the things they have to do to win it - tear them apart?

If you love tense, sensual, heartwarming gay romance, dive in to Fighting for You tonight.

Enjoyed!

Great start to the series! I loved the romance mixed with a little bit of suspense and uncertainty throughout this story. Luke and Adam have to face their fears and fight for their HEA, and it wasn't easy.
This was a fun, steamy, and emotional read. I really enjoyed Barney Parkwynne's performance on this audiobook.

Unexpected, inconvenient, exceptional connection

Unexpected, inconvenient, but exceptional connection.

The narrator disappointed me with lack of inflection and a very monotone reading.

I so enjoyed how each man tried to do the right thing and the struggle they each had with balancing their attraction and what was appropriate. Luke and Adam have misunderstandings, a bit of angst and lots of hope and love.

We have two really likable men who find themselves in an untenable situation and I was pleased that they found their way to working it out.

Contemporary M/M

I enjoyed a good insta-love story. Luke and Adam have an interesting meet and the fact that the author chose to make them fall in love instead of enemies make the storyline flow. Adam is there to serve Luke custody papers but when Adam sees how Luke is with his baby brother, he decides he would help Luke instead of fighting against him.
The narrator over enunciated his words so it took a minute for me to get into the book. He did improve at the end or maybe I was just got into the story.
If you can get past the narrator, this is a 4 star story of two people who found each other and have to find a way to make it work

Great story; bad narration

I read this book several months ago and enjoyed it very much and was excited to listen to the audio. But I was not a fan of the narrator.

Smoldering hot attorney

As an attorney I love when books actually have an attorney as the “hero”. Adam is a big shot lawyer Taking on the custody case of wealthy grandparents wanting to take their grandson away from his brother when his parents die. However when he goes to serve papers on a defendant he realizes his clients are in the wrong (not to mention sparks fly!) Working behind the scenes to help Luke (to his client’s detriment) shows Luke Adam’s true colors and makes him wonder if they truly can have their happily ever after

Endearing characters

I was given a free audio copy from the author and the GRR arc team for review.

Story 3.5 stars. I liked the overall premise. The 1 MC Luke fighting to keep custody of his brother even though he's struggling, against the rich snob grandparents who suddenly make an appearance for the first time. Both the MCs were likeable and they had good chemisty. It's a slow burn but once things happen they are majorly hot with lots of dirty talk which kind of saved the story from being a little too uneventful for me. Without spoilering I'll just say that although I can believe the motives for Adam doing what he did (the motives being his attraction but also his own family history making him want to do the right thing), I just didn't see that it was at all realistic. It would have been more believable if Adam was Lukes lawyer. Though I did find it very endearing how Adam wanted to help Luke. I really liked the way it ended.

Narrator 2 stars. I really wasn't fond of this narrator. The tone of his voice for the dialogue was pleasant but he read so slow I had to majorly speed up the rate. Even then it was very monitone. Even during the moments where u would expect to hear the intensity and emotions and angst, there was very little. (U could hear it in the fights but not in anything else. The really dirty scenes were flat which was disappointing). I did appreciate him differentiating the voices of some of the extra characters but there was no noticeable difference between the 2 Mcs and I found it confusing at times.

warm and fuzzies

This was so inspirational and uplifting and I loved the main characters. Both men had strength and integrity. I liked that it didn't take Adam long to see whose side was right, and then assisted in helping positive outcomes. Luke was smart enough to know a great thing when he saw it, even if it took him a minute. I voluntarily listened to a free copy of this and am giving an honest review. The narrator did a great job bringing it to life. I always enjoy his work.

Good start to new series

Good start to a new series. Luke is trying for custody of his brother from his grandparents. Adam is the lawyer representing his grandparents. Luke and Adam have a connection and serious chemistry. Good story! Barney Parkwynne did a good job with the narration.

The story was good, the narration not so much

Luke’s life has fallen apart. His parents died and now he’s fighting his grandparents for custody of his little brother. Adam is the grandparents lawyer. Adam stumbles into Luke’s bar and things are never the same. There is instant attraction between the 2 men. But Adam knows he can’t get involved with Luke. They can’t stop thinking about each other and decide to date but keep it a secret. Adam sees how Luke is with his brother. Adam knows the brother needs to stay with Luke. Will he do the right thing and keep them together? Or will he do his “job” and fight for the grandparents? I loved the story but hated the narration. He over enunciates some letters and it was annoying. I almost gave up on it. I did like the story. And with a different narrator I probably would have rated it higher.
