Publisher's Summary

In Lisa Gardner’s first-ever short story following 13 best-selling novels, "The 7th Month" takes listeners between the books and into a day in the life of Boston Detective D. D. Warren.

In her seventh month of pregnancy, D.D. should be taking it easy. Instead, she accepts a small consulting role on the set of a serial-killer film shooting in Boston. D.D. figures she’ll be useful to someone for at least one night, serving as a police expert and making a little extra money in the bargain. It seems like a simple task—until the previous film consultant, a former Boston cop, is found beaten to death. Suddenly D.D.’s date with Hollywood gets serious.

Extremely pregnant, on the trail of a killer, and surrounded by a hundred and four murder suspects in the middle of a graveyard, D.D. must quickly unravel a tangled web of lies. As another cast member is attacked, D.D. realizes that like it or not, her priorities have changed—and her last desperate hope is that she can catch a killer before she and her unborn baby face mortal danger.

Packed with the suspenseful storytelling that has turned Gardner’s novels into New York Times best sellers, "The 7th Month" reveals new insights into a beloved series heroine.

excellent for a short story

I assumed that because it was short I would feel as though it was lacking, but I was wrong. Great story and full story.

Short, crazy and sweet

Interesting storyline for a pregnant Dee Dee Warren. Enjoyed the short story insight. She never gives up.

Not bad... But not the best

The novel was an entertaining listen to be sure, but lacked the thrill I usually get from a murder mystery. I am a bit disappointed in this novel, as I usually adore D. D. Warren novels, but this one just fell short. Considering the price however (or rather the lack thereof) I am considering this a worthy purchase to last an hour or two.

For those who really want a thrill, try listening to "Catch Me". Still a D. D. Warren novel, but taken to a whole new level. Sinister, creepy, mysterious, and most of all thrilling, it is currently one of my absolute favorites.

Fantastic short.

This was a great little story by one of the best authors out. I cannot wait to dive into the next book in the D.D. Warren Series.

Short but sweet!

I love the Elizabeth Gardner novels and this short story lived up to my high expectations. The narrator tells the story so that the humor is revealed behind the words.

Just ok

The narrator kept taking in sucking sounding breaths. It was very distracting. I found myself focusing on that instead of the story.

Very enjoyable for such a short story

This is the 2nd book that I have read by Lisa Garner and I think I am hooked. This book was very short, but still had a lot of action and the story moved along. I would recommend that you read one of Lisa Garner's other books about DD Warren. It would help to understand her character better.
