Crazy storyline but enjoyable

I am a big Jodi Picoult fan. I start every Picoult book with high expectations. During the first part of this book however, I was scratching my head. It was slow. I was determined to give the book a fair shake. And the slowness eventually gave way to Jodi's engaging writing style. There were three things that I felt weren't quite up to her usual standards: 1. ) the plot/story was a bit unrealistic for me (I am not religious). However, if you can suspend your personal beliefs the story is still well told. 2.) Typically, all of the characters in Jodi's books are very well developed, but I missed the full development and background for characters like the husband. He was pretty flat. And last of all 3.) if you listen to this book on an ipod, you will hear one of the narrators swallow and swish inbetween passages. This was like fingernails on the chalkboard to me, and even with my limited audio editing knowledge I recognized that those were items that could have been edited out of the recording.

However, despite these three things, I enjoyed the book and would recommend it. I was sad when the book ended. And with that, I give the book a solid four stars.

Good, but not my favorite

Don't read or listen to "Change of Heart" before "Keeping Faith"!!! A few of the characters from "Keeping Faith" come up in the more recent "Change of Heart" and I was disappointed when I realized that I already knew how some of the book would end. Otherwise, it was your typical Jodi Picoult book. I like them all, but the more of them that I read, the more they start to sound the same. I didn't realize that they would ALL (so far) have courtroom drama, medical issues, and an unusual number have involved organ donation. I'll still keep reading them, though.

This book is truly an excellent read. Jodi P has done it again. I was completely captivated with the believeable characters and the narrators did a great job throughout. I cannot wait until her next book!

didn't enjoy the quality of the audio

there are two narrators who each have different ideas of the characters persona, which is very frustrating. i wish it was kept to one narrator. the chapters end/start in an inconsistent manner, which you would think is a minor detail, but was actually disruptive to the rhythm of the reading. story was OK/good, but performance was lacking.

Thought provoking subject, once again!

Love the mind and writing style of Jodi Picoult. This book did not disappoint. Enjoyed listening to her voice. The ending was a bit void.

My first Jodi Picoult Book

I enjoyed the story & the narration. It kept me wondering what was coming next. I felt for Faiths mom & her challenges & circumstances. I wasn’t a fan of the ending but up to that point - it was great.

beautiful touching story of faith.

loved the story..it was amazing as usual... BUT Mariahs voice... i hated it. i hated how the reader drags out the words. like she drags out the last syllable of each word out instead of it being clear and crisp and to the point... 16 hours of it and i want to cut my throat
it drives me crazy .. no other character voices do that.. thank god. but great story

The characters were enjoyable

I really enjoy Jodi Picoult’s books in general but this one I sort of struggled through just to finish it. It was just so predictable I guess without any twists or turns like she’s had in a lot of her other books.

Good story

This was a good story though I felt it was too long and drawn out. Finding true love in the middle of everything that was going on was a little far-fetched but didn't detract from the story.

Read others first. This was REALLY hard for me to get "into". I am a huge Picoult fan and I stopped listening halfway through. Generally Jodi's book grab me and I can't stop listening until the book is done. This one doesn't do it for for me...

Have you listened to any of Julia Gibson’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

Yes. This may have been to serious of a book for her voice. She has somewhat of a whimsical tone to her voice. I do enjoy her work though.

Was Keeping Faith worth the listening time?

I hate to say "No" as all of Jodi Picoult's book have a great message, but this would be at the bottom of my Picoult list.

Any additional comments?

If you have never read Picoult, read anything else first. Don't let this be your first Picoult book as it might be your last. If this was from another author I might not expect as much and it might be "ok". I will try to listen again in the future to see if I like it better.
