Publisher's summary

"Maybe we live our lives constantly becoming and rebecoming. Maybe we're always in the process of metamorphosing into something new."

In her journal, writer Piper George notes the change of seasons. Each entry marks the passage of time since she became a teen mother and put her baby up for adoption. Her words flow together, painting a picture of loss, hope, and enduring love for the daughter she's never forgotten. But one autumn, a new presence appears in its pages and in her life: her neighbor, Edward "Ned" Chesterfield.

As winter thaws to spring, Piper and Ned develop a friendship that could be something more... if only Piper would open her heart. But the loss of her daughter has irrevocably shaped her life. And having given so much of herself away, she's not sure if she can give Ned all that he deserves. But with him at her side, Piper just might learn that a heart's love is never truly lost.

Beautifully written

A poignant story about how one birth mother handled her feelings about giving up her child. As an adoptive mom, I was deeply touched by this book and though saddened at the expressions of loss, was relieved to find such a hopeful ending. I used a lot of tissues to get through it but I can highly recommend this story as a wonderfully cathartic experience.

Absolutely the best story!

This story was so incredibly well written. I was hooked...didn't want to stop to sleep. No vulgarities, no crude phrases...just a poignant, well told story. (Hate putting the word 'just' there.)

Even-keeled yet poignant and engaging

It's a book about self-discovery, friendships, romance and motherhood. I loved it. Holly Jacobs is a gifted writer weaving letters and flashbacks into the chapters that culminated into an HEA and yet open-ended enough that the reader could ponder about a next book. Christina's performance complemented the tone of the story. It is not your run of the mill romance novel, worth my time and credit.

Such a sweet, tender book

This is an excellent story of adoption and a birth mother's love. It had several tear-jerker moments, which I love. I would have given it more stars, but the immoral live-in situation prevented that. As for explicit sex and bad language, there is none. I know this was not advertised as Christian fiction, but I still think the immorality was out of place. Other than that, I enjoyed this book.

Touching story for mothers

This was a warm and touching story about the kind of love I feel for my children expressed beautifully through the lives of the author's well-developed characters.
