Publisher's Summary

For centuries, the Dragon Kings have lived among mortals, forsaking their true selves. But for Kelton, hiding in the realm of shadows - and existing only in the world of dreams - is no longer an option. A human woman claims to know that he, like other dark warriors of his kind, is real. That the legends about these powerful, seductive men with hearts ablaze are true. And that, with just one embrace, Kelton could destroy her...or love her until the end of time.

Bernadette Davies is an anthropologist who knows better than to fall into the arms of a Dragon King. But how can she resist Kelton when he's so willing to share his secrets and bare his soul? He hasn't met a beautiful, trustworthy woman like Bernadette in...forever. But once they give into their mutual desire, their worlds will never be the same. Soon, Bernadette must face her dilemma: Should she expose the truth about Kelton in the name of science? Or join him in his battle with the dark forces - in the name of love?

Contains mature themes.

There is a whole lot going on.

This has to be one of the fastest pace stories I have ever read. The last couple books in this series have taken a lot of time fleshing out characters and the conflicts going on around them, this book seems to do the opposite. We get a lot of different perspectives in this book, everyone from Bernadette, to Kelton, to Con, the Reapers, to Balladyn and Usaeil. (There is also a new character that I can’t wait to learn more of.) While I really did enjoy the book as a whole, and it was great to see the conclusion to a lot of different plot points, ( it was amazing to see the kings at war) , I did feel like the main pairing did suffer a little bit. While Kelton and Bernadette’s chemistry and relationship felt realistic, the character themselves lacked a lot of backstory that helps you to truly connect with them on a more personal level . Most of this book was spent moving the series main plot forward. Antony Ferguson does a fine job narrating this series. All and all this book gave me everything I needed and left me looking forward to the release of Flame.

Ugh!! Redundant much? Great book to say the least.

I loved the book. Had very high Hope's. As usual, another great side story within the whole of a broader storyline. I bought the kindle copy at the release date and decided I needed narration. I only got part way through reading when I stopped to wait for the audio versions release. However, I did read a lot of the reviews. They all seemed to have about the same theme. That other storylines were finally closed out and it is glaringly obvious whom Rhi's king is. 👀 Where?! This book was more of the same. Im a bit disappointed. This could go on forever. Though I have a strong suspicion, as does the rest of you all in the Dragon King world, that Rhi is Con's mate. But let's get to it already. Fever was well written, what do you expect?! Donna Grant flew through the back story in this one. 👏🏾 A great read that I'd recommend to those looking for a good fantasy romance to be lost in. Not so much for series type readers. I mean come on... At what point do you bring the bigger picture to a close?! God forbid something happens to the author or me(us as readers). 17 published, 1 pending short story and 1 pending(full novel) DK novels in, not to mention the 8 books that brought the DK series to the forefront for me, and we are still going. I'm so glad I forced myself not to get trapped in the reaper's series. I'm ranting/venting now. See how things can drag on. Point is: Donna Grant's publisher/editor should now take the reigns and kill the series. Before she begins to lose fans.

Spectacular!

I absolutely love this book! It has everything; love, passion, intrigue and plenty of action. Donna Grant is phenomenal at building the storyline with fantastic characters and linking them to the previous stories thereby hooking even better. Antony Ferguson does a truly fantastic job of bringing all the characters to vivid life with his wonderful narration. I can’t wait for the next book. I very, very highly recommend this book.

Finally we get to the war.

But it doesn’t seem to be the last. This one had some surprising twists and turns involving Con and Rhi in different things. I have a feeling this series is never going to resolve a happy ending for Rhi, I bet she’s the focus of the next branch off series, I’m really hoping I’m wrong.

Tired of the recap!

I get that this is a series and the author wants to catch anyone up that didn’t start at book one, but to dedicate most of the book to repeating “the story”... uuuggghhh! This portion of the story (series as a whole) should have been huge! What a Pete,Pete, and repeat let down. It took HOURS to recap the previous books in the series and then the Big Bang part (if you have read the series you know what I refer to) was just meh. There were several sentences repeated over and over just to fill space. I have now heard the back story what, 18 times? Because it is torturously repeated in every book at length. It is sad that the author didn’t think their writings were good enough that there were actually readers that would follow the series in order, therefore not need the core story repeated every....single....book.

The Best

Loved!!!!! Donna Grant is truly a creative writer. This book was my favorite so far, can't wait for book 18. The Dark Kings reads like the episode of Gameof Thorns.

Awesome book..

Loved Keltan and Bernadette, and the story! This was all about them meeting and her ready to show proof that dragons exist, until she spends time with Keltan. After that meeting Bernadette didn’t have any interest in exposing the dragons. And there are hints that Bernadette is “special.” Can’t wait to see what happens with that bit of information. There is explicit sex in this book and the F-bomb is used 19 times. As to the narration: Meh!
