Publisher's summary

A meteor storm barreling towards earth ignites a chain reaction of devastating events that will bring the world to its knees.

For the first time since his divorce, CJ will be able to take his son on a vacation. Along with his father, they make it a guys’ trip to the west coast. Little do they know their trip that is intended to be a lifetime of memories would include facing insurmountable odds.

The lack of warning leaves everyone in the dark about what has occurred and vulnerable to all that unfolds. It doesn’t stop with the meteors. The disastrous events come one after another, a domino effect of annihilation.

It isn’t just one place, it is everywhere. There’s nowhere to run. There’s nowhere to hide. Safety is a broken word. It doesn’t exist.

Like billions of others across the world, CJ and his family are thrust into a life full of catastrophic events.

Far from home, caught up in a whirlwind of a distraction, CJ soon discovers it’s not a matter of going anywhere…it’s a matter of staying alive until the events run their course - if that’s even possible.

Meter Storms Strike

I totally enjoyed listening to this book and loved the characters. It has earthquakes, tsunamis, volcano ash and good people helping others and a few not so helpful. The main characters are CJ, his son Carter, his father Guy, Mindy, Roger, Ruben, and CJ’s ex Kylie. Recommend if you enjoy Post-Apocalyptic. a little short but loved it

This was a great apocalyptic story with a decent set of main characters. There is definitely a lot of action and disaster is around every turn. The narration is very well done. If you you are looking for a quick action story that revolves around an apocalyptic setting, this is a good choice. I really enjoyed it.

Rushed

This author tends to do dooms day tales that are rushed, 4 to 6 hours, and heavy on the gloom. The story seems to start well but then it’s just rushing to end. You tend to hang on till the end because you invested the time already and in the hopes it gets to the surviving long term part instead of characters just living for the world to end. Last of her books I purchase.

I liked it

Pretty good short type story. Second book i've listened to by the narrator and author combo and i preferred this one to the other book i listened to "Rectify". I believe both the author and narrator were better in this book and i will most likely listen to it again sometime (even though i'm swamped with books to listen to.)

I was given this book for free for an honest and fair review

Asteroids, super volcanoes, tsunamis

The dinosaurs were supposed to have been wiped out by an asteroid hitting the earth could it happen again if so would we be ready? We read and listen to many authors tales of apocalyptic here is a new one that really could happen. The storylines are about the planet getting bombarded by asteroids and what effects it have on mankind. We have heard story's what if this or that happen well be ready while you listen to this audiobook you live the destruction of the planet but most of the story is in the US and see if humanity could or could not survive events like asteroids, super volcanoes and tsunamis and what the US would be like afterwards. This story you live the day by day of different individuals from both LA and Washington and the narrow escapes the experience to survive and to get to a safe area to try to survive because after super volcanoes blow the planet goes into a new ice age and most of the US is now covered with water and there is very little good land and the one who survive must try to start a new country from a destroyed country, the government collapsing, the president and most of the cabinet dead and Washington under water so where do you start.
This audible is written so well you live it and in someway feels the death of so many and the fighting spirits of the survivors.

Good read.

Meteors hit Earth and with no time to warn anyone, people have no chance to prepare. A series of natural disaster follow the hits, including tsunamis, earthquakes and Yellowstone erupts. Chaos follows and this book concentrates on focusing on a group of survivours.

This book was enjoyable, which is weird since it's a post apocalyptic book, but it's the only word I think that fits. I enjoyed the concept of it and the characters, and enjoyed the overall story, but I felt it lacked something to really make it amazing.

The characters are all well developed and you can't help but root for them. I really liked CJ and his dad, but Mindy was my favourite. She was fun to read. The plot moved at a quick pace and was some what believable.. the bit I found hard to get my head around was the fact that Russia seemed to be the only place not crippled by the meteors, I just thought this was odd, other than that bit, the rest was good. The idea of humanity having to face so many different natural disasters together was awesome!!

In all, a good read. Not my favourite by this author, but good none the less.

Andrew B. Wehrlen read this well. He is clear and is able to bring the atmosphere to life and I enjoyed his performance.

The Planet is Deeply Impacted

Jacqueline Druga’s name is synonymous with post-apocalyptic stories. The best part is that they do not always include zombies. This one doesn’t include and zombies and is just an end of the world style story with natural disasters. Out of all the Druga stories I have listened to, I think this was the weakest one yet. I was full on excited at the start and that slowly faded as the story went on. It isn’t a bad story, but she has written many better ones. I enjoyed listening to it, but kept waiting for her unique spin to show and never really found it.

The entire story is pretty much a road trip to survival. Everyone is looking to get to safety and encounter more and more disasters along the way. Families are separated and new families are made. It follows the some what typical plot of a post-apocalyptic group of people looking for salvation. I still enjoyed the story even though I think it was a bit bland and didn’t really connect with me either with the plot or characters.

I didn’t really care for any of the characters. This contains quite an unlikely group of characters, although I felt that this was more about the story itself and not as much about the characters. Hearing their story of survival was more what was being told versus who each one was. You get some background on them, but nothing that really got me close enough to care about them. As depressing as the story is, I never felt for the characters and was more depressed with the state of the situation versus their specific situation.

I really enjoyed Wherlen’s voice. His cadence and tone were perfect and I enjoyed his change in pitch for characters. The emotion you can feel behind the words is quite powerful. He maintains the tension and really pushes the story forward. I wouldn't have felt tension in the story without him. His performance will keep you listening.

Uneven Writing

This didn't feel up to the author's usual work. The characters are uneven and feel roughly sketched. In fact the whole book feels like a rough draft for a series without the details. There is nothing really new here. At least there are no zombies.
Andrew B. Wehrlen narrates well and does a solid job on this uneven book.

"Fun" disaster story.

Now I am not sure fun is quite the right word to use when talking about a disaster story, but that word sums up my feelings on Faulted. I've read and listened to several books by Jacqueline Druga and have always found her stories to be entertaining, and this was is indeed entertaining but it also felt somewhat forgettable. I don't mean that as an insult. The disaster that rains down (literally) on your cast of characters was cool, the disaster scenes well written. Likewise the cast was fairly interesting. And yet because of the cast, the main cast that is, the story itself felt small. Personal sure, but small. While it kept me entertained from start to finish, it was also somewhat forgettable. None of characters or precise events stayed with me the way some books do. But that isn't necessarily a bad thing. This was like a fun summer popcorn flick. One I watched and enjoyed but a week later had forgotten all the details. But the nice thing about movies/books like this is that I know I can come back to it again sometime down the road and enjoy it again as if for the first time. I hope that makes some semblance of sense.

The book is narrated by the talented Andrew B. Wehrlen, who as always did a wonderful job. I thoroughly enjoyed his narration and will be listening to more of his work in the future.
