Critic Reviews
"Narrator Clare Corbett flawlessly creates the accents and setting of Lenchester, England, while introducing Detective Chief Inspector Whitney Walker and her polar opposite, psychologist Georgina Cavendish.... Corbett's best creation is pathologist Clare Dexter whose eccentricities add a bit of levity. The well-rendered step-by-step procedural, with its gripping conclusion, makes for an exceptional listen." (AudioFile Magazine, review of Cavendish & Walker)

Love this author
I’ve just discovered Sally Rigby - listening to her first book in this series 2-Days ago!
Her writing is excellent and I was totally invested in the book in the first 30-minutes of listening. I checked Audible about 1-hour in hoping to find it was a series, and was delighted to see there are many more books!
I’m binging on Sally Rugby’s books now 1 just finished this book tonight, and will fall asleep listening to book 3.
It’s really very nice that Sally says hello to all who finished book 1 and again book 2. She shares a little about herself and her process in writing.
Love her already! I’m hooked!!!!

Don't bother
I was surprised by the reviews after listening to this myself and I found it a very tedious listen. The writing style is very basic too much "he said", "she said" and the writer seems very unknowledgeable, no police officer would assume that there would be a serial killer from one crime scene. Luckily it was in the free catalogue so I haven't wasted a credit.

This series gets better and better
I discovered the Cavendish and Walker series through Audible plus and listened to 'The Night Shift', 'Deadly Games' and 'Fatal Justice' back to back. I just love everything about these books, from the plotting to the fantastic characterisation, how the characters develop as the series progresses and the fabulous narration by Clare Corbett. I can't wait to get stuck into book 3 and see what case Whitney and George have to crack next!
I must admit that this book did make me a bit nervous before starting it as it does cover the topic of paedophiles grooming and abusing young girls via a social media app. However, there was no graphic detail about the crimes, just mentioning of how the men made the girls trust them and how easy it was to get them to agree to meet up. Scary but very realistic stuff but not graphic at all. I liked the way the police tackled catching the vigilante who was killing the men and how it then tackled her reasons for doing so. A really well plotted and executed book about an all too real topic but that was handled sensitively.

Chocolate Box Crime Novel
I enjoyed the first book but was surprised by how predictable and over-explained this book was. Characters were embarrassingly formulaic, like it was written in the 80's, from the hot shot detective with an attitude problem right down to the jarring boss who gets in her way with bureaucracy and politics. Every decision and thought process had to be explained in dialogue or character thought bubbles like I wouldn't be able to make sense of a nuance. I guessed wrong on the murderer but it was a dull ache when revealed and of course the murderer had to explain their motive to the enth degree. Everything neatly wrapped up in a castrated chocolate box.

Enjoyable read
I like the characters and their relationship but stories are short and a big too predictable or simple.

I'm hooked!
Book 2 doesn't disappoint, loving the developing relationship between Walker and Cavendish. Engaging storyline perfectly narrated.
