Publisher's summary

A darkly thrilling take on the fashion world - and soon to be a major television series on E! - #FashionVictim is Heathers meets The Devil Wears Prada.

Fashion editor Anya St. Clair is on the verge of greatness. Her wardrobe is to die for. Her social media is killer. And her career path is littered with the bodies of anyone who got in her way. She’s worked hard to get where she is, but she doesn’t have everything.

Not like Sarah Taft. Anya’s obsession sits one desk away. Beautiful, stylish, and rich, she was born to be a fashion world icon. From her beach-wave blonde hair to her on-trend nail art, she’s a walking editorial spread. And Anya wants to be her friend. Her best friend. Her only friend.

But when Sarah becomes her top competition for a promotion, Anya’s plan to win her friendship goes into overdrive. In order to beat Sarah…she’ll have to become her. Friendly competition may turn fatal, but as they say in fashion: One day you’re in, and the next day you’re dead.

Surprisingly captivating!

I thought this would be a light bit of fun to listen to on my daily dog walks for a week or so. I started it yesterday and it’s just finished as I type this. Great characters, a really intriguing POV, and an unexpected ending. Can’t wait to see what the author comes up with next!

Engaging and entertaining

Predictable, but not a bad listen. There were a few things that I wasn’t a big fan of (lots of acronyms) but I understood their purpose and felt they fit with the story. I enjoyed the fashion aspect, and found it both frustrating and fascinating to be stuck in Anya’s head. Worth a listen, but not sure I’d give it another. I do like the author and will continue to read/listen to her other books!

This book is ridiculous in the BEST way...

Absolutely loved this quirky, unusual book! The superficiality, cattiness, and chicness of working in the fashion world mixed with the gory details and twisted inner workings of a killer? Love it. The main character is so weird but pulls you in and by the end of the book you're basically on her side, cheering her on! Literally felt like I was reading "The Devil Wears Prada" mixed with "Sharp Objects." It's a refreshing change of pace in both the chick-lit and the thriller/suspense worlds, where the same plot lines are often recycled to death. If you like both chick-lit and thrillers, this is 100% for you.

No one's ever who they say they are.

There's a lot going on at La Vie, and I'm not talking about fashion. After reading the first few pages, it didn't take long to discover that a certain someone isn't wrapped too tight, but you're compelled to continue reading to discover just how unhinged that person really is. Great book and great author!

Bonkers in a good way

This story hits the ground running and doesn’t lose any momentum. It’s off the rails in a fun way. I like that the author didn’t break up the story to tell us Anya’s background, it’s interspersed without interrupting the book’s flow. I also love that her backstory isn’t one long sob fest. I don’t want depression interludes in my dark humor. This book is funny, wild, and one of the few books that I finished in under 48 hrs because it was so addicting. This is like The Devil Wears Prada mixed with You

Blah

There’s unlikeable characters & just awful characters. The main one in this is the latter for me. It also wasn’t what I’d seen advertised plot wise at all, which is always annoying & usually kills any interest I originally had. I’ll be returning this one, after 3 hours into it (I tried to like it! Narrating was fantastic! But ugh, the plot.
