Publisher's Summary

New York Times and USA Today best-selling author Carrie Ann Ryan continues her sexy new contemporary stand-alone series with a broken heart and the shattered soul that can heal them both.

Macon Brady remembers every moment he lay on the ground, a bullet in his chest, his life bleeding out with each pulse. Yet his nightmares aren’t the only thing keeping him up at night.

Dakota Bristol left her ex with nothing but the clothes on her back and her child in her arms. She’s been hurt before and wants nothing to do with the shadows in Macon’s eyes. The problem? Her son loves him, and the more time she spends with the man, the more she’s afraid she’ll come to love him just as much.

Danger always comes back to haunt those who run. It was a lesson Dakota learned before. Now, it might be the man she refuses to fall for who makes the greatest sacrifice of all.

Far from destined

I have loved every moment of the Promised series. They way each couple thinks they will be different from the one before but still end up in the same lace. Macon’s POV is so heartwarming when you think about the position he was in and having to come back from that. Loved loved loved can’t wait for the conclusion!

Loved it!

This is now my fav in the Promise Me series. I say that after each book but the single mother storyline is always a fav of mine. I loved Macon and Dakota and little Joshua. I loved to finally find out more about who Dakota was. And Macon stole my heart. Now, I am dying to see where the next book takes us. Listening to this book totally made my work commute enjoyable! I was so absorbed in the story.

Macon and Dakota

I've been looking forward to Macon's story if you've read or listened to the earlier books you will already know that he feels drawn to Dakota and already has a strong bond with her son Joshua. In this book, he gets his chance to finally get close to her but will he break through her walls? This is the third instalment in the Promise Me series, part of the Montgomery Ink universe. Dakota's one of four single friends who have made a pact to set each other up on blind dates, All of them has difficult pasts which only make you more hopeful that they will in fact find their HEA and this time it's her turn to be fixed up. Macon's having a hard time mentally recovering from being shot when he tried to save Hazel from her crazy ex-husband (Forever Only Once). He has nightmares remembering every moment from that terrible time, laying on the ground, a bullet in his chest, bleeding out expecting to die. His way of coping is to box but he knows he can't keep doing it because one day he'll get hurt or hurt someone else. Dakota's story is one of pulling herself up from nothing, she had terrible parents and an ex who abused her. He ended up in prison and she was left with only the clothes on her back and the child she was carrying. She’s determined to never need a man again and is fighting to keep Macon at a distance. But how can she do that when her son loves him? Plus the more time she spends with him the more she finds herself falling in love with him too. But when danger threatens her and Joshua it's Macon, the man she keeps telling herself she doesn't love, who's prepared to go to any lengths to keep the two people he loves safe. This story is an emotional one as both Macon and Dakota fight their own demons while trying to put on a brave front for Joshua. My heart was breaking especially when Macon opened up to Dakota and she didn't back away. I loved how their bond grew, how Joshua became the glue who helped hold all the pieces together! I loved how Mama Cat and her four babies were woven into the tale, you just knew they had a home! The narration of this book by Emma Wilder and Jason Clarke is perfection personified, they bring every character and every emotion to life beautifully. I was given this book as a gift and am voluntarily writing my review.

All the emotions!!!

This is the third book in the Promise Me series, and it’s Macon and Dakota (and Joshua’s) story. Macon is still trying to deal with what happened in Forever Only Once, with being shot and almost dying. He’s dealing with it in a different kind of way that helps him, without sharing with his family. Dakota is very independent, single mom business woman, not wanting to rely on anyone for help. When babysitter issues come up, she has no choice but to need help from others. After a year of grumbling, her & Macon finally start getting closer, and in perfect time, because bad things start happening when the ex shows up. And they are much better together. This had a lot of emotions, sweetness and love, cuteness and crankiness, and some scary moments. And listening to Jason Clarke 😍 Could do that all day & all night. Emma Wilder does a great job as Dakota also. And you’ll love it all! And just wait till you hear that epilogue!

Didn't want it to end

I am one of those people where I always end up wanting the story of the character that gets their story last. Well not this time! This time Macon was second to last. <3 But so worth the wait. I love Dakota's bada** attitude even if on the inside she thinks she is faking it a little but nope! SHE IS A BADA**! Any woman that has been through what she's been through is amazing. After what Macon went through in Cross's book (if you haven't read it go...seriously stop reading this review, go one click "Forever Only Once" and might as well add "From that Moment" they are both fantastic reads) Anyway, I fell for Macon so hard in Forever Only Once. I actually stopped reading to go see when his book was releasing because I want Macon. No seriously, I licked him he's MINE! He is strong, and sexy. The depth of his character was breaking me. This man is amazing. The story is fantastic, I could not stop listening and the two times I had to stop I actually went straight to my kindle and started reading because I needed to know. Once again Emma Wilder and Jason Clarke are freaking AMAZEBalls!! Emma's little kid voice is a huge favorite of mine. I love me Jason Clarke during dirty scenes. Both narrators have quickly become favorites of mine. I high suggest this book. <3

Amazing read

Omg what can I say this story tore me apart and spit me back together. Dakota and Macon Holy smokes talk about i didn't want it to end. The way this story unfolded it was really really well done. Carrie Ann Ryan just wrecked me hard-core with this one. I love it so much. Narrators: Both Jason Clarke and Emma Wilder made this story sound absolutely amazing to listen too. I love both their voices. They absolutely killed it with narration and I recommend to either pick up the book or audio and give it a listen or read because it's one of my favorites of 2020.

Loved Macon and Dakota

Those Brady brothers and their ladies. That awesome group of friends who decided to go on blind dates. They all seem to gravitate to the Brady’s. This time they are intent on Macon and Dakota to be the next ones. They repel each other every time they are in close proximity. I adored Macon, his ghosts have led him to fight which is a contrast to his profession. Dakota’s past comes back in the form of a mean man. Both need each other. They get their happily ever after after and a cute 6 year old helps them along. It’s an adorable story with its own suspense of course. I think this is my favorite in the series! Great narration and Mr Clark voice is wow.

My favorite in the series

This is by far my favorite book in this series. Macon has been my favorite brother throughout this series and his book did not disappoint. But, seriously, gun shot wounds need to stop for him and those he loves. Macon and Dakota have had chemistry since day one, but they have denied it and buried their feelings. I feel bad for Dakota. She's a single mom trying to be very independent and she has a really hard time asking for help. And when people offer it, she bristles. So what will happen when her past catches up with her? Will she be able to ask for help? Will she accept what is offered to her? I love Joshua, Dakota's little boy. I'm not usually a single mom story kind of girl, but this one touched me. How can you not fall in love with this little boy? Jason Clarke and Emma Wilder do fantastic jobs with these characters and this story. I've been having dreams of Macon's voice in my ear. That is Jason Clarke for you.

♡When life gets hard and you feel all alone♡

♡remember you mean the world to somebody and that somebody calls you mom ~Unknown~♡ I loved this book so much! Single parent, hurt/comfort, enemies to lovers and the right amount of suspense. I actually haven't listened to the first book of this series where Macon gets shot and almost dies so if you are in the same position as me, I suggest you do listen to the first book. Even though this can be read as a stand alone, I feel like I was missing out on a good chunk of the story to fill in the pieces. Dakota’s hate for Macon also confused me for a better part of the story. I couldn't understand why and other than her son and his fighting, well, I still don't get it🤣. This book kept me on edge though with Dakota’s ex playing games and just the suspense when waiting for something big to happen. Everything works out, of course, but it was still a thrilling, riveting ride, getting at that HEA.

Absolutely loved it but not sure about the main character name

Book 3 in the Promise Me series by Carrie Ann Ryan. Macon is a Brady member and a veterinarian with his own shared practice. In previous book he was shot badly and is struggling with ptsd and the help with that he get in ring and fights. He’s secretly liked Dakota for a long time but she’s always had a don’t approach vibe until Dakota reaches out to him. Dakota has been through a lot and has many secrets but when Macon makes his intentions to her she realises she needs him as much as he needs her. I absolutely love Carrie Ann Ryan and personally can not get any better for romance but with really great characters, I love that her characters are very real with their on illnesses or issues like Nate’s migraines or Arden’s lupus illness. My only issue in book was when the narrator said Macon name and it came out more like bacon to me but other then that can’t get enough of this series.
