Publisher's summary

Scarlet Morgan knows all about happy endings. As a best-selling romance author, it’s her job to be an expert on the subject. It’s just too bad her own story doesn’t write so well.

Ryker Holt can build a car from the ground up. While there isn’t much the highly-skilled mechanic can’t fix when it comes to his profession, it’s Ryker’s personal life that’s still in pieces.

Scarlet thought she found forever in Ryker until, one day, he broke her heart and walked away.

Years later, filled with regret, Ryker wants Scarlet back. But he’s worried the damage is already done, and what they had between them is far beyond repair.

Fighting for your soulmate is worth it in the end!

Scarlett and Ryker were each others first love, and only love. From two different sides of the track, they prove that opposites not only attract, but leave a soul changing impact on your life. After spending years together, Scarlett and Ryker are ultimately torn apart by her parents that think he's not good enough for her. Even though Scarlett begs him not to walk away from them, Ryker does what he believes is the right thing for her - all the while breaking both their hearts. He promises to wait the 7 years for her to finish medical school, and she promises the same. When the 7 years come and go, Ryker never got the call he believed with all his heart would come. After 7 more years have passed and Ryker fits out Scarlett has been right under his nose all this time, he goes in search of answers. Their reunion quickly turns passionate as they remember all they were and all they still want to be for one another. Neither seen to be able to move on from the past, each blaming the other for their demise in one way or another, and Ryker decides he needs a break and its Scarlett's time to prove her love. After tragedy strikes, they both realize they have wasted too much time already and decide they are going to make it work. Scarlett is dealt another blow from her estranged family, and Ryker is there for her like he was all those years ago. This was a beautiful story of young love, tragedy and triumph, and proved that soulmates will always find their way back to where they belong. Jason Clark and Kit Swann did an amazing job narrating Ryker and Scarlet. They brought the perfect amount of emotion to the characters.

This is such a great series by AK Evans!

Two of the best narrators I have heard did incredible. Jason Clarke and Kit Swann did an amazing job as Ryker and Scarlet!

Heartbroken
Grumpy alpha
Second chance romance
Ryker held so much pain and grief from something that happened long ago and I hoped he would finally be able to let go and move forward, did I expect it to be with the one that he let go, ummm nope! This was an incredible surprise!

Both characters were stubborn but in the end they did get their HEA!

Next up, Elise and Kieran!

Young love, second change, & one emotional ride

Ryker and Scarlett are teens from two different worlds. Ryker is from an average, hardworking family who works for everything they have. Scarlett is from a wealthier family and has every materialistic thing she could ever want but lacks the one thing she truly wants, love, until she meets Ryker. These two were truly destined for each other, but overbearing parents who think Ryker will never be good enough for their daughter ultimately tears them apart. Even as Scarlett begs and pleads with Ryker not to go, he does what he believes in in Scarletts best interest. 7 years, that's the promise they made. 7 years and they would be together again, but when 7 years comes and goes with no call from Scarlett, Ryker's heart is shattered all over again. He will never give up waiting for Scarlett, but when she returns, is the damage too far beyond repair?

This is by far my favorite book in the Hearts & Horsepower series and one of my favorites of all of Evans books. It touched my heart in such a strong way. The narrators were incredible and poured every emotion into the story which really brought it to life. Perfect duo for Ryker & Scarlett! I wish I could give this book 10 stars, because it truly deserves so much more than 5.
