Publisher's summary

Dear Reader,

Being trapped in a bedroom with a woman is a grand thing. Being trapped in hundreds of bedrooms over two thousand years isn't. And being cursed into a book as a love-slave for eternity can ruin even a Spartan warrior's day.

As a love-slave, I know everything about women. How to touch them, how to savor them, and most of all, how to pleasure them. But when I was summoned to fulfill Grace Alexander's sexual fantasies, I found the first woman in history who saw me as a man with a tormented past. She alone bothered to take me out of the bedroom and onto the world. She taught me to love again.

But I was not born to love. I was cursed to walk eternity alone. As a general, I had long ago accepted my sentence. Yet now I have found Grace--the one thing my wounded heart cannot survive without. Sure, love can heal all wounds, but can it break a two-thousand-year-old curse?

Don’t waste your credits!!!

I believed the hype (ala amazon reviews), and I should have known better.

I love a far-fetched plot line that is written well enough to suspend my disbelief. Um, but this one isn't. At all. Even a little.

I love some hot love scenes with creative twists. Um, but these scenes aren't creative. At all. Even a little.

I love an imperfect-looking heroine who gets the hunky guy, when the story is written well enough to show me why this works. Um, but this one isn't. At all. Even a little.

I could give examples and turn this into a proper review, but I'm still so busy laughing over:
*The sex therapist who hasn't had sex more than once.
*The tarot card reader with PhD.s in Physics and "Ancient History."
*The vast amount of "hissing" and "growling" in the moments of passion.
*The phrase "Holy Green Guacamole!"

Good Book to read but not to listen to. :{

My most humble apologies to Ms. Christine L. Marshall but she was not the appropriate narrator for this book! I am so disappointed because I loved loved loved the book; it made me laugh out loud and is just a thoroughly warm, fun and imaginative story. If I could separate ratings out for story and narration it would have been 5 stars for the story and >1 for Ms. Marshall's interpretation as she changed the whole feel of the story for me and it wasn't for the good. Spend your $$$ on the book or go to the library, don't buy the audio version.

Awesome Story

I really loved the story. There are some parts that suspend credibility, but then, well, it is about a Greek demigod love slave and an ancient curse, so credibility isn't what it's all about. It's about fantasy, pure and simple and right there in the title, and in that scope, it certainly delivers. The narrator was not good at delivering this particular story, granted, but I've learned after a few hundred audio books to pick through the bad narration to the story and just go with it. The story was absolutely brilliant. I've bought the next two in the series based on my impressions of this one, and have every confidence I will love them too.

Bad narrator

I've never disliked a narrator before, but wow. This one whispers so you have to turn up the volume, then switches to normal so you have to turn it down... She emphasizes every other word and makes the book really cheesy and over-dramatic. I liked the book when I read it, but I couldn't even make it through the first half because of the narration. I recommend reading this one in paperback and getting the other audiobooks - just skip this one.

Don't let first book keep you from reading series!

First book of Dark Hunter series is not as in depth as remaining books of series. My opinion the first book is corny. The Dark Hunter series is one of my favorites and I'm glad I continued the series Sherrilynn Kenyon transforms and improves as an author and it shows in her writings!!!

Very Disappointing

If you are into audio books where the reader whines the story, this is the audio book for you. I found this audio book extremely difficult to listen to. From the narrators voice to the horrendous accent for the Male Lead; this book was definitely not worth using one of my credits.

The plot was predictable and weak. For a book that centers on Greek mythology the possibilities would seemingly be endless. However the author decided to take a very predictable path ending up with a very lackluster story. The characters are not thoroughly developed and are one dimensional. All of the female characters were delicate and annoying. Not anything like any of the women I know from Louisiana!

I wont take another chance on this author again.

Enjoying this series

I really enjoyed this book. I thought the characters were well developed for their roles in the book. I'm currently listening to the rest of the series (book 4). The only problem is that Audible does not have the complete series. They have books 1-4 and then it skips to book 10 and on. PLEASE Audible, get the rest of the series! It's very annoying to get hooked on a series and not have the complete series!

I highly recommend this book and the series if you can tolerate not having the complete series to listen to.

Must Read for all Mythology Lovers!

I love the legends of mythology and Sherrilyn Kenyon delivers! Have you ever imagined what it would be like to encounter a man of the Ancient times or a God? This book grabs you from the begining and keeps you enthralled till the very end. I am new to Sherrilyn Kenyon's books but now I am hooked! I started in the middle and decided to go back to Book 1, where it all started. Her books are the ones that I will come back to over and over again.

Great Book crappy reader!

I own and love Sherrilyn Kenyon's books. Julian is one of my favorite characters but the voice of the reader ruined it for me! It was a total joke!

NEGATIVE!!! -Stars...

This book is HORRIBLE - well really, it shouldn't be classified as a book - I love reading (listening) too much to demean it in such a way. To make matters worse - the reader will make you want to politely excuse yourself to be sick. The only thing I can think of to compair it to is a really cheesy, horrible daytime soap! YES, I DO feel this strongly about how bad it is - makes me mad at myself for choosing it...
