Publisher's Summary

A decade of working for the high-powered Gilchrist family empire has made sassy Katy Wade determined to open her own business. But there's one last problem she must solve before she can leave. The Gilchrists need an heir apparent to save their mysteriously floundering fortunes, and there's only one man for the job: Luke Gilchrist.

All his life the Gilchrists have made Luke pay for his father's scandal, and now he's a renegade who's sworn he'll never go home - except to get even. Katy must persuade Luke to use his business expertise to rescue his family, but one look in his sexy green eyes, and she knows why they affectionately call him "the Bastard." Meanwhile, Luke's decided he wants her even more than he wants revenge. He agrees to play savior, but only with Katy at his side. It's a strategy sure to make this red-haired angel madder than hell, but she's the only one who can turn this devilish rogue into a family man. Now he must trust Katy with his secrets - and she must believe in his love.

Bad narration

Voice is ok when reading scene or male voice, but, when reading the female part, sounds like a strange choppy robot- extremely distracting and irritating.

Amy McFadden

NEVER will buy another book narrated by Amy McFadden. Absolutely, positively ruined my entire experience with one of my all-time favorite authors completely. I constantly envisioned her rolling her eyes, snapping her fingers & saying "Whateverrr!" in her awful natural accent. I even found myself mimicking her on her worst accented words. ARGHHHHHH ! I couldn't believe the heroine sounded like Minnie Mouse of crack! OMG, who thought this girl would be a good narrator?? IS IT POSSIBLE TO GET A REFUND???
Would like more audibles using James Marsters and Ray Porter. They are both superb.

One of my Faves

Glad JAK's earlier works are being put in audiobook. This one is one of my favorites and the audiobook version maintained its status.

Which Jane Ann Krentz wrote this book?

Well, it wasn’t an Amanda Quick novel.… It wasn’t really a Jane Ann Krentz novel… Was it a harlequin book? As usual Amy McFadden did a lousy job, but at the same time Ms. Krentz has been hiring narraters in recent times that do not stand up to the quality of her stories and characters. This story grew a little stronger toward the end but definitely wasn’t the same quality that past novels have been. What happened to the Arcane Society, to the Amanda Quick novels? Were they all too safe, when is the experimentation going to end? There just aren’t that many great present day authors out there right now. I long for the past quality and for some of the past narraters (Barbara Rosenblatt) that pulled us into the story and allowed us to feel and live an adventure.

That accent!

Don't they realize that they want to attract a general audience. The narrator's horribly flat, nasal vowels are truly painful to listen to. if I weren't familiar with Krentz and this story, I would have quit after about a minute. Please make these audiobooks easier, less painful/annoying to listen to.

This is vintage Krentz and enjoyable for that reason. One of her typical stories with a strong female protagonist who must go toe-to-toe to get to their HEA. I wish I could better characterize that style, less slick that the Sex-and-the-City type of chicklit romance. Kinder and gentler but never tear jerking or otherwise pushing the reader's buttons -- good, interesting, fun reads and rereads. Listen to the sample to see if the narrator's accent is bearable for you. If you like Jayne Ann Krentz, you will enjoy Family man..

Fun Story!

I really liked this audiobook! There’s a lot of mixed reviews here, but I liked the narrators & the storyline. It cracks me up when people say a romance book is predictable. I liked the twists & turns in Family Man, especially at the end. Sure the male character is a “caveman”, albeit a business one, but...💕❤️!!
