Publisher's summary

Blood is thicker....

Sometimes a unique talent is inherited - and such is the case for Trouble, son of Familiar, the black cat detective. Trouble's rather indolent life in the sleepy town of Wetumpka, Alabama is upended when a serial killer arrives on the scene. Trouble begins to apply the skills he learned from his dad and his hero, Sherlock Holmes.

When local bookseller Tammy Lynn is attacked at the site of an impact crater, Trouble realizes he must protect his human and solve the mystery of the Silk Stocking Killer.

Aiden Waters, a local deputy, has tracked the SSK to Wetumpka. Since his wife's murder, Aiden won't risk romance, but when Tammy is endangered, everything changes. Especially their hearts.

sophomoric and boring

Hard to believe this experienced author wrote it. Sweet simple and without spark or complexity. Feels like someone else did it.

Excellent beginning

I have been wanting to read this series, but I am not able to read printed or ebooks, and need audio books. I was so happy to find that this was recently added to Audible. I enjoyed this book immensely, and am now a fan of Trouble. The characterizations were great and the mystery was extremely well written. I'm really hoping that the rest of the books in this series will be released in audio. I wasn't sure when it started how I felt about the cat being recorded by a different voice artist, with a British accent, but once I started listening to the book, I was totally hooked.

Thoroughly Enjoyed!

I am on book 14 of the Sarah Booth Delaney Mysteries by this same author, so was excited to try something new by the same author. I’m very happy I did~ I laughed out loud, and am ready for more though a bit worried as I noticed the other books are written by other authors. I hope I enjoy the other books just as much! I did notice there is another book (book 9 I think) in this series written by C. H. So I hope I like the series all the way through!

He is NOT a familiar!

This book is not fun, I am sad, I really wanted to love it. The protagonist is not clever at all, and there are a lot of stupid love scenes, that just aren't consistent with the characters. And the cat, Trouble, cannot communicate with his person at all, and she doesn’t really understand him. It turns out his father’s NAME is Familiar. (He is NOT a familiar) And his name is Trouble. He apparently used to watch Sherlock Holmes on the TV and now believes he can deduce things.... but not really! I mean the killer has a sweet odor that they can smell when he is bad, but when he is acting good, he can’t smell him???
The plot is stupid and boring! It could have been so much more!!! 😰

Enjoyable!

I enjoyed the story line very much. Good clean challenge. I listened while crocheting on a rainy day.

A gem that outshines many another cozy mystery!

Loved the development of characters and story line. It is a "cozy" mystery, better then the usual in that the main story line is more plausible then many of the usual cozy mysteries. The narrator for Trouble, the cat in this cast, is excellent. Trouble's role in the story feels nearly believable. Just right. Good writing. Great narrators.
