Publisher's Summary

I’m not gay...okay?

I'm a simple guy. Give me a beer, a tailgate, and some sunshine, and that's 'bout all I need to have a great afternoon.

'Course, I'd be a little more likely to have great days in the first place if things weren't getting a little out of hand at my work site. We’re supposed to be constructing condos, not waiting around for some scientists to dig out prehistoric bones!

It's us versus them. Construction workers vs nerds. Me...versus him.

I'm so confused. I just don't get it. He's their PR guy. A little Mr. Sunshine in a bottle. And I shouldn't be thinking about him at all. It's got nothing to do with the work site.

It's just.... I'm not gay, okay?

He just...makes me forget that, sometimes.

If you're looking for a steamy, gay-for-you, enemies-to-lovers story, check out Falling for My Rival, the second audiobook in the Dig Deep series! This title, and all titles in the series, can be listened to as a stand-alone.

I Want to Laugh Again

From the title, and the seriousness of the cover, I expected a dramatic enemy to lovers story.

Instead, I was laughing myself silly from the first paragraph! Narrator Austin Jay did a great job with the twangy southern accent of rural Alabama.

Add in the ridiculousness of a grown man snacking on Moon Pies, and the scene is set for the good ole boy construction worker.

Frankly, finding dinosaur fossils is pretty exciting. No wonder the local museum hired in professionals to handle the excavation. Add in a PR representative to facilitate information between the museum and the public, and there is the friction.

Who is watching out for the construction crew who have been banned from working the site? No one. So, they take matters into their own hands.

The beginning of the novel is truly amusing. So much so that when the angst and tension between the two factions rises, it's almost harsh. Thank goodness for an author who loves to leave us with an HEA. Yes, I will be listening to this story again.

enjoyed it

Did the story keep me engaged: yes
Were there any parts I found annoying: no
Did I feel an emotional connection to the characters: yes
Would I listen to it again: yes

I enjoyed 'Falling for My Rival' as much as the first one. Sammy and Jim are likeable and fun characters and i thoroughly enjoyed their journey. The book has good pace and low angst.

Austin Jay did a good job on the narration, he narrates all the characters clearly and brings emotion to all the right places.

Overall an easy enjoyable listen.

Fun story

Austin Jay did a wonderful job narrating this story.

This is my first J.P. Oliver novel. I enjoyed the bantering between Jim and Sammy. This is the second book in the series but I enjoyed it without having read the first book.

LOVE CAN STRIKE AT THE STRANGEST TIME

Jim, an Alabaman construction worker who has a hard time dating women, and Sammy, a promotionally passed over archaeologist, become PR man for the museum at a construction site where dinosaur bones were found, meet each other because of a video that Jim made while bored that garnered thousands of hits. It is up to Sammy to get the construction workers and the scientists to get along with each other. Sammy’s boss makes it impossible and when Sammy and Jim meet, Jim realizes something about himself that he didn’t realize because of his religious upbringing. The sparks and tempers fly as Sammy’s past rears its ugly head and makes matters worse between the two camps.

The narration is good, but not as good as some of the other stories this narrator has done before.

Loved this so much

Follow Jim and Sammy as they fall in love while trying to overcome their own fears and insecurities and influences from the outside world. Don't forget the hot sessions in tight spaces *wink*

The story is about a construction worker that suddenly finds himself attracted to the hot cute PR guy for the museum, questioning his whole life up until that point. As he discovers his sexuality and fumbles through trying to form a relationship with Sammy they have to fight to keep each other. As with all relationships, communication is key, and they almost lose each other when not voicing their thoughts.

I loved this story so much I was addicted to listening to it, even if I could only listen while driving. I would highly recommend this book to anyone.

The narrator was fantastic and I think he did a very good job with the characters in voicing them and relaying their emotions. I especially loved that southern drawl.

Couldn’t put it down

This is the second book in the Dig Deep Series with well-developed characters. Jim is Construction Forman, who is a country boy and a big teddy bear. Sammy is the PR for the Archeologist/Museum and is a ray of sunshine. This romance centers around a media storm that is fueled by both sides, and Jim and Sammy are both caught in the middle. There is a lot of sneaking around, promises, and a little bit of naughty fun. They both try to keep the peace by keeping their relationship secret, and Jim also has to come to terms with his sexuality. It’s a beautiful story, and I could not put the book down. I cannot wait to listen to the other books in this series. I love the dynamic the author brings to his story’s. The narration was very well done.

Entertaining story!!

I was pleasantly surprised by this audiobook! I’ve never listened to the narrator, Austin Jay before. Based on the preview, I thought this was going to be one of those that I either couldn’t finish or would have to force myself to finish BUT he actually did a pretty good job bringing this book to life. I’m looking forward to checking out more titles by him in the future.
The story was great. I’m a sucker for anything related to archeology (thank you Indiana Jones)!! I liked both of the characters, Jim and Sammy, although Sammy did get on my nerves a few times, but that’s why I enjoyed this story. It made me react! I highly recommend this audiobook!

Great GFY enemy to lovers

This is another win from the author. J.P. Oliver is a hit or miss for me, usually a hit, just like this one.

Both MCs are likable and the story never left bored, it was funny and heartwarming with a bit of homophobia drama in it. I like the way the author handle some conflicts, not sugarcoating and actually giving the MCs actual grief for it. Jim was hilarious with his gruff way of being. I like GFY stories with a hint of enemy to lovers, this does not disappoint.

No insta-love. Mild insta-lust. Scorching hot scenes and a HEA.

I love this narrator, he was new to me and I'm looking forward to to her more from him. His voice is deep and gruff, the characters are distinguishable from one another and the pace was great.

Fun

Sammy and Jim are a believable couple right from the moment they lay eyes on each other. They are so much fun to read about, and also very hot! The moments in the excavator are pure gold...and I can't forget that time behind the dirt pile. There is only a little angst, so this story is an excellent pick-me-up. It's also well written and held my attention from the start.

Austin Jay is a wonderful narrator. He captures both characters so well and lets their fun moments shine through.
