Publisher's summary

For every woman that has ever felt trapped; a funny, raw, and empowering mid-life-crisis.

Creator, mother, lover, and social media phenomenon Tova Leigh explores what the hell you are supposed to do when you find yourself living a life you don't remember signing up for.

I was bored, angry, tired, and sad. I felt all alone yet I had nothing to complain about. I had a good job, a husband who wasn't shagging his assistant, three children who apart from being the occasional a**holes were pretty good kids; a house, a dog, and everything else we are told as little girls we should aspire to. But inside, I was growing restless. I didn't want to be looked at as just a "mom". I wanted to be desired, to make someone's hair stand on end and go crazy for me. I didn't want to live by some label that didn't represent me. I looked at my messy minivan one morning and I wanted to vomit on it all. I panicked, thinking about how I am slowly approaching middle age and menopause, and I wondered how many years do I have left of being "f--ckable" before everything starts going downhill?

In her first book, Tova takes the listener on her journey of rediscovering who she is after motherhood and beyond the norms society forces upon women, whilst encouraging them to break free and just be themselves.

When you find authenticity it's hard to go back. It's like opening a door to the truth and starting to breathe a new type of air. This discovery is what prompted me to write. It's my way of saying HERE I AM.

Minimal advice... more of a story about her life.

Tova's story about her life was interesting and did keep me entertained the whole audio-book. I guess I had different hopes when reading the title of the audio-book. I thought it was going to have a ton of advice, trial and errors, tips, and tricks that I could use to improve my life in my 40's. I hope of she makes a second book, that it has more advice for people in their 40's.

And I’m not even 40

After becoming a teen mom at 17, completely feeling like an adult, yet in the body of a child, honestly.... I’ve never related to anything more in my entire life. From her relationships, to her marriage, to her mom guilt and love for sex toys.. even at 27 I enjoy this book more and more. I find myself listening to it when I’m in between books. So far I’ve gotten 4 listens out of it. And with it being in Tovas voice makes is so much better 🤣

10/10 even tho I can only give 5 stars.
You’re such a real incredible human and you make me feel normal, I fucking love it.

Not yet 40 bur relatable

I'm just a few shorts years from 40 but I do have 3 kids all 3 c sections. I absolutely love my kids but also want them to F*@k off! My body image issues are also my biggest struggle right now. Sex life is good and I love my husband but also day dream of wanting to be wanted by others. This book was an amazing read for me. All women should read 100%

Relatable

Great story. Relatable. Felt a little safe. Feel like held back a bit to cater to a broader audience. But still worth the read. Great for moms finding their path back to themselves.

Great Book w/Some Laugh-Out-Loud Moments

I wasn’t sure what to expect since I didn’t go looking for this book since because it showed up after I finished listening to another book on audible. I enjoyed the way the author spoke, and how real she was, and it was a good reminder to let loose a bit more and not be so consumed by our busy lives. I definitely recommend, and suggest listening to the book rather than reading it on paper, since she has a great way of telling a story.

easy read, interesting story

I liked her honesty and the way she told her story. no filter and no shame. The beginning started off a little slow, but picked up and I was sad it was over. Easy to listen along to.
