Devon’s first priority is her five-year-old son, but getting to know Sadie all over again is taking up more and more of her headspace. Sadie is inexplicably drawn to Devon. It could be nostalgia. Or remnants of their old friendship flaring. But what if it’s more than that?

Isabel and Taylor were good characters and very likeable. the narrator did a great job bringing the characters to life . the thing that bothered me with this book was how long the ex-girlfriend caused drama for everybody.. I am looking forward to the follow up books from the series.

Struggled to finish
There were two main things with this story that made it hard for me to connect with it and enjoy:
Lack of diversity. The story takes place in LA and yet POC seem to be non existent but every type of thin white woman you can think of exists in this story. Also, can someone point me in the direction of an apartment complex made up almost exclusively of queer women? Thanks.
Laissez-faire treatment of mental illness. The main character has a major anxiety disorder to the point of having crippling anxiety attacks and the possibility of therapy isn't mentioned until the 11th hour of the story. It felt as if she turned the story into her editor and they told her she needed to mention it so she tacked it onto the end.
There were other things (Isabel isn't as funny as she thinks she is/she's kinda a Mary Sue) I didn't mesh with either.
Not for me.

Could have been more
I have rated this four, but in reality, the story didn't grip me the way other Melissa Brayden stories did. Although, the narration from Melissa Sternenberg was very good. I think the reason I struggled with this one was because it was based on Hollywood, from the angle of writers and successful producers. The conflict, in the form of a jaded ex-lover also felt a bit one sided and it felt shallow of Tyler Andrews not to just confront her nemesis. There are reasons why she doesn't, but they didn't paint Tyler in a good light, ethically. Maybe I'm struggling to say why I didn't like this story so much, but I guess it was - the setting, I'm not a big Hollywood fan. But also, the unit of friends around Isabel Chase which are normally charming in Brayden novels, for whatever reason, seemed a bit forced, in that they became passionate friends too instantly and without this being earned. In addition, Chase suffers from anxiety, and I see this portrayed well, but as someone who suffers from GAD, Chase's anxiety was a bit too convenient and not as crippling as it is in reality; Chase didn't come across as the broken heroine who needed help, but rather someone with a minor problem which caused issues from time to time, meaning I didn't feel sympathy for her - she seemed to have everything she needed and was getting everything she wanted.
I realise this is a new set of characters Melissa is developing for future novels (and audiobooks). I hope I can somehow engage with this new Californian crew.

Not Melissa's best
I was a little disappointed with this book after being so excited when it released on Audible. The Soho Loft series was excellent and I expected more of the same. I found the romance a little rushed which made it hard to believe and connect with. Because of this the romantic scenes felt too mushy and dare I say it a bit too Mills & Boon for me. Sorry Melissa.
Narration was good, despite me hoping desperately for narration by Felicity Munroe, who manages to make you get lost in a book.
I'll buy the next in the series in the hope that her previous style of writing, which has kept me gripped and made me listen to her books again and again, returns.

Enjoyable
I really enjoyed this one, it was fun to listen to and had just enough drama without going over the top The characters were very likeable and the friends also had just enough to them to spark my interest in their stories as well. The narrator was great too.
