Wrongly convicted of a crime that will haunt him forever, William Thompson gambles everything on a secret one-year experimental program instead of rotting in prison for decades. The instant the experiment begins, he knows he's made a colossal mistake.

What they do to his mind and body is only the beginning. As sanity fractures and death starts to feel like a mercy he will never be granted, something impossible awakens inside him—an ability that lets him reach beyond flesh, beyond pain, and glimpse a hidden world people have killed to both reveal and conceal.

Book one of Shane Stadler’s Exoskeleton series is a relentless psychological descent that listeners warn will put a mark on your soul … and by its final word ignites a quiet, luminous hope few ever see coming.

*WARNING: This may be the most disturbing science-fiction novel you’ll ever finish—and still feel grateful you did.*

It’s an interesting story but it left me wanting, at only around 6.5 hours it feels like it could have been at least 2 or 3 hours longer, it flies through everything at a break neck pace and I wish it just fleshed out the story longer, and I’m sorry but I really didn’t like the authors voice, I wish they got someone to read it, his delivery isn’t smooth and I don’t much like his voices for the characters, I don’t want to trash the guy because he wrote and performed a book and I haven’t but that’s just my take, worth a listen if you like dark sci-fi but had potential it didn’t realize

Loved this one! Couldn’t stop listening. I can’t wait to see where it goes in the next few books.

Great concept!

Overall, an entertaining book, but the narrator was very stilted in his delivery. The narrator, who is the author, at times seemed like he was unfamiliar with the book. His cadence was uneven at best, and there was very little difference in his voices for different characters.

stilted delivery of a mid-grade plot.
