Publisher's Summary

Written by Dan Blank, Everything Your Coach Never Told You Because You’re a Girl is one of the most inspirational stories ever written for the female athlete. Coaches and teams of all sports – from soccer to golf to equestrian – have embraced this book as the foundation for a new brand of female competitor.

Everything Your Coach Never Told You isn’t a soccer book, it’s a life book filled with competitive lessons that most girls never get the chance to hear. The edgy and passionate voice of Don Bratschie makes this audio-book jump to life with stories of a small-college soccer team that refused to conform to the warm and fuzzy image of female athletes. Listeners will join their remarkable journey from doormat to champions and feel as if they are right there in the locker room on game day, listening to a coach driving them forward into battle.

Not just for female soccer players

First off, this book is about competition. Yes, the author bases the book around his experiences as a college women's soccer coach, but lessons apply to all athletes, male and female, no matter the sport.
Secondly, this is a motivational book--about winning and defining what winning is worth to you. Each chapter is a short easy to digest segment with message illustrated by examples from his experience but also from wide world of sports. Les Brown, Vince Lombardi, Ross Perot, and Zig Zigler rolled into one for the athlete.
Definitely pick this up.

Wow-Floored

My daughter is 13 we have both listened to this and amazed. This resonated with the both of us but I feel she got out of it is that a lot of things dad says is true but sounds WAY better out of Dans mouth. Dad never played soccer, dad never did certain things...thanks Dan for sharing the stories of strong female athletes. My daughter is a leader and you gave her the perfect template.

Simplistic

Entertaining to listen to his life experiences while giving nuggets of valuable information. Book breaks everything down to simple understanding. You may not agree with everything he says but you cannot refute the life lessons that came out. I would 100% recommend reading.

Excellent read!

As a woman who played baseball with the boys until I was about 16, I truly identified with a lot of principles in this book. Excellent read and really a great mindset restart for anyone who has any kind of team.

Skip It

This book had three themes: (1) Girls are inherently bad competitors and must be fixed, (2) basic stuff about competition that everyone knows, and (3) awful advice that professional coaches, players, and leadership experts would deny. Not worth the time.

LOVE this & "In My Tribe"

Both titles by Dan Blank were the push that I needed, reaffirming my beliefs and providing the perspective to begin treating situations a bit differently. Very empowering, highly recommend.

Father of 5 girls

I have never heard of this author nor of his book but while I was looking for similar books on coaching mentoring and teaching the book popped up as an option. I have seven kids out of the seven kids five are girls, I’ve coached both boys and girls young and high school age and I’ve always tried to coach in a manner in which every player is treated equally and given an opportunity to increase their talents. I do the research, I read the books,I go to clinics I do everything I can to be a better coach to help these young kids keep their dreams alive. I’m not a college coach nor am I a professional coach you can consider me a coach that prepares the young athletes for the next coach and if I can get the basics and fundamentals in, the next coach can go to the next level with them. This book is everything about equality, It was good to learn new concepts. I love my girls and I want them to be successful, like any other parent want their kids to be successful. I will do everything I can to teach my girls never to be treated any different especially different than a boy when it comes to all aspects of life. I have coached more girls than boys and in the beginning I coached them because they needed a coach but never pushed them like I did the boys I coached but over the years like this author like this coach I learned some valuable lessons from the girls I’ve coached and was fed some humble pie. I’am a huge advocate for women’s sports in all levels. I recommend this book to all fathers and mothers, yes fathers and mothers who have girls read this book help your girls, become their best in life treat them equally. Push them like you push your sons. I push my girls every day, three of them are playing sports. My other girls in other talents such as music and dance I push them just the same. Excited to read the other books this coach has written and add it to my library to share with other fathers and mothers. This book is for everyone whether you’re a single parent with girls, or no kids but you coach and/or mentor this book will give another view. You will learn how to build a mentality of winning in all aspects of life and what winning really is. And will help prepare our girls for the world that beats the crap out of us every day but we get up and face it every day because not everyday is a beat down. We do some a**kicking of our own.

WELL WORTH IT!

This is the third straight audible book I've listened to by Dan Blank and I can't wait to read his others. Awhile reading this Boone, I earned Audible's "stenographer" badge for placing so many book marks of which I can refer back to. Yes, it has that much info that I want to go back to.
I am suggesting these books to my high school players and my kid's club players as well. This info in this book is pertinent not only to soccer player, but can be used just as much by any athlete in any sport.

Love it

Maybe I'm not a true "winner" because it seems over the top at times but overall has a great message. Loved this book!
