Publisher's summary

Bill Nye has been the public face of science for more than 20 years. In Everything All at Once, the New York Times best-selling author urges listeners to become activists and agents of change.

Everything All at Once is an exciting, inspiring call to unleash the power of the nerd mindset that exists within us all. Nye believes we'll never be able to tackle our society's biggest, most complex problems if we don't even know how to solve the small ones. Step by step, he shows his listeners the key tools behind his everything-all-at-once approach: radical curiosity, a deep desire for a better future, and a willingness to take the actions needed to make it a reality. Problem solving is a skill that anyone can harness to create change, and Bill Nye is here to teach us how.

Each chapter describes a principle of problem solving that Nye himself uses - methodical, fact-based approaches to life that aspires to leave no stone unturned. He explains how the nerd mindset leads to a richer and more meaningful life; far more than that, it can help address hunger, crime, poverty, pollution, and even assist the democratic process. Throughout the book, Nye draws on his own experiences - leavened with his trademark humor and self-deprecation - to show how he came to think like a Science Guy, and how you can, too. By the end you will be ready to sort out problems, recognize solutions, and join him in changing the world.

Bill Nye is awesome, but skip this one

I like Bill Nye and didn't want to give this a bad review, so I'm being as generous as I can with this review:

There really wasn't much to get out of this one. The only important thing to take away is that you should think critically and use rational thinking in order to make important decisions.

Best Thing Bill Nye Has Ever Done!

I am a science teacher and a big Bill Nye fan from back to the Science Guy days.
In addition to the Science Guy show, I've seen much of Bill's TV and video work--Greatest Discoveries, Eyes of Nye, Bill Nye Saves the World. I've also read cover to cover his two previous books, Undeniable, and also Unstoppable. His latest book, Everything All at Once,
is the best thing he has ever done. The trademark puns and humorous expressions are all there, but this is definitely a cut above. I really like how Bill reveals so much about his family, upbringing, and personal life to explain where he is coming from. The writing is thoughtful, flows very well, and makes credible his impassioned call to action on climate change. As I got toward the final chapter, I didn't want it to end! Nerd or not, you need to read this book. Bill will inspire to you to help change the world!

Disappointing

Mostly self aggrandizement and opinions on opinions. In fairness, the author admits he only has a bachelor degree in engineering and spent most of his adult life pursuing a career in entertainment, but he sure is confident in his opinions. He brings to mind the old quip, often in error but never in doubt.

Dares you into thinking inside the box.

Dares you into thinking inside the box.

...Is how I would put it.

In a time where many people search out far and beyond for answers, I for one, this book tells you that finding that answers to life begins with something as simple as tying your shoe correctly. Allow me to point out that this is not a step by step guide, but a memoir that parallels his application to life and bettering the world by unison and design.

I found Nye's insight uplifting and his delivery impeccable. Defying the defiance, bringing us back to square one to view life through basic laws and principles that govern the universe.

Always a pleasure Nye

Another book with wit and humor. He is very down to earth and talks to you like a family member. But very informative book! with each of his books I walk away learning so much more about life.

I love Bill Nye

I really do. But this book sounded like a grown man bragging for hours. I just couldn't get into it.

I'm sorry, Bill but this is book is terrible. I loved your books on evolution and climate change, but I think this book is boring.

spectacularly inspiring, and very well read.

Bill Nye not only has many valuable insights for scientific minded people, he's also a great storyteller. Tales of his own life are just as enticing as his science lessons.

Great book, good food for thought

I loved this, Bill Nye tackles many things we can all be guilty of like emotional bias, he encourages critical thinking and gives good examples. I found myself comparing my own experiences, and thinking of the times I could have done better. I feel I learnt a lot, and it made me face things I was happy to ignore, previously to my own detriment. Definitely recommend

Hoping for more science.

This is the first time I've come across Bill Nye. It was an entertaining read: but as a nerd I was hoping for more science.
