Publisher's summary

In the romantic tradition of The Notebook and Nights in Rodanthe, number-one New York Times best-selling author Nicholas Sparks returns with a story about a chance encounter that becomes a touchstone for two vastly different individuals - transcending decades, continents, and the bittersweet workings of fate.

Hope Anderson is at a crossroads. At 26, she's been dating her boyfriend, an orthopedic surgeon, for six years. With no wedding plans in sight, and her father recently diagnosed with ALS, she decides to use a week at her family's cottage in Sunset Beach, North Carolina, to ready the house for sale and mull over some difficult decisions about her future.

Tru Walls has never visited North Carolina but is summoned to Sunset Beach by a letter from a man claiming to be his father. A safari guide, born and raised in Zimbabwe, Tru hopes to unravel some of the mysteries surrounding his mother's early life and recapture memories lost with her death. When the two strangers cross paths, their connection is as electric as it is unfathomable...but in the immersive days that follow, their feelings for each other will give way to choices that pit family duty against personal happiness in devastating ways.

Illuminating life's heartbreaking regrets and enduring hope, Every Breath explores the many facets of love that lay claim to our deepest loyalties - and asks the question, How long can a dream survive?

disappointment

I am a huge Nicholas Sparks fan but the person reading the book put me to sleep. The book it self would probably be amazing if they had a more lively voice narrating but OMG this was such a snooze if I could give it zero starts I would!

Love Nicholas Sparks!

Although I love Nicholas Sparks, I found this book to be rather long winded. I kept waiting for something to happen. It was your typical Nicholas Sparks, not meets girl, they fall in love, boy loses girl, til they meet again.

Just a simply wonderful love story...

This was a lovely escape for a few hours and left me wishing it were true! What a lovely story about what is possible. It's not a complicated listen and one can just enjoy the performance and wish you were there.

Weak plot, leaves a lot to be desired

Character development was lackluster - true and hope aren’t very well understood characters and their choices don’t feel sufficiently motivated. Their love story doesn’t make a lot of sense either - the time they spend together feels glossed over and not substantial enough to warrant a decades long star crossed storyline. Also the fake narrator thing bothered me to no end - the whole bit of pretending it’s a real story until the very end was unnecessary and takes from the plot because then it felt like a betrayal to find out it was all fake. Not his best book by a long shot.

Disappointed

Narration by two entirely different voices used for both femaie and male characters was confusing. I was expecting more from storyline and plot.

Love

I loved this story period. Nicholas Sparks is a fantastic writer. Both Narrators were great although i wish when going between male and female voices they had used both narrators at the same time. But overall, this was a fantastic book.
