Now, this brilliant course introduces you to that history and practice of eschatology, or the study of the final events in history. With award-winning Catholic professor David Zachariah Flanagin as your guide, you will discover renewed hope as you learn about salvation.
You will begin by exploring Jewish beliefs and apocalyptic literature about God's redemption of the world. Next you will turn to the life and ministry of Jesus and the early church, which adapted those eschatological ideas to herald Jesus as the Messiah sent to inaugurate God's kingdom on earth.
You will then address the legacy of biblical hope in Christian history.
How should you interpret the apocalyptic images of the Bible: as literal descriptions or symbols? All the lectures were enlightening, but the last two on pre-millenialism and dispensationalism helped me make sense of today's American Conservative Protestant support of violence in the Middle East.

Very interesting and informative
I really enjoyed this and will probably listen to it again. i would highly recommend to anyone wanting to understand the progression of eschatology, especially in the US.

Just what I was looking for.
Dr. Flanagin is a great teacher and the narration is comfortable to listen to when I retire in the evening. I plan to get more of his books!
