Publisher's Summary

The 19th century. The Hell's Eight is the only family he's ever needed, until he meets the only woman he's ever wanted...

Caine Allen is a hardened Texas Ranger, definitely not the marrying kind. But when he rescues a kidnapped woman and returns her to town, the preacher calls in a favor. And Caine's honor won't let him refuse.

From the moment he beds Desi, Caine knows turmoil will follow. Desi might have the face of a temptress, but she also has a will of iron, and while she needs his protection, she's determined that no man will control her again. They establish an uneasy bond, but it isn't enough for Caine. He wants all Desi has to offer. He wants her screams, her moans, her demands...everything. Yet there's still a bounty on Desi's head, and keeping her sexually satisfied is proving easier than keeping her alive.

Explicit fluff

This is best described as a sexually-explicit Romance novel. The plot begins promisingly enough, but rapidly sinks to simplistic stereotypes and a lot of pedestrian sex play.

If you like your erotica on the vanilla side, and your characters simple and uncomplicated, you'll enjoy this read.

pathetic... awflu just palin awful

I am so terribly tired of reading this genre with un-developed characters, Where do these Authors get thier Inspiration, Man, just one more insipid female/Male whining about if he/she loved me he/she could, might, should, maybe strong enough I don't want to be to strong to weak, helpless, Just plain rediculous, Gswd, enough already!!!!!!, If there was a negative 5 star with neg 0-1, <<<. Was this really written for an adult audience, it reads like something for
adolescence. I stop reading Harlequin years ago when I was a teen ager now I know why?, just awful, plain awful

Got Bored

Every scene is so long and drawn out that it's boring me. I may not finish it. The 40 minute scene where two characters get comfortable in a sleeping bag was torture. There is a lot of sex in this book (but not until about 3 hours in) but it is in the erotica section...what do people expect?

Left Wanting...

This book had the potential to be very good, but there were several gaps that just ended up making it frustrating. I think a lot more attention could have been given to detail if the author had not felt the need to prattle on for four chapters about each passionate encounter. The main characters were very likable, and finding out about the inhumane treatment Desi had to endure prior to meeting Caine really made me have empathy for her. However, the story could have been woven together so much better if really important details hadn't been omitted, particularly toward the end of the story. It ended so abruptly that it left me with several unanswered questions because way too much time was wasted describing their intimacy. It got to the point were I felt like screaming 'THEY WERE HOT FOR EACH OTHER AND THE SEX WAS OFF THE CHARTS -- WE GET THAT! NOW PLEASE JUST GET ON WITH TELLING US THE STORY!'

Wow!! Love this book.

I had owned this book for a while and now regret that it took me this long to listen to it. LOVE IT!! Sarah has a new fan! If you can not the raw sexual talk then no this book is not for you. But if you can take it, then I strongly recommend to listen to this book.

Too much sex

Not enough story. By skipping over the sex scenes, I was able to cut 2 hours off the length of the book.

Not romance or sex, it’s almost all just rape

If the main characters aren’t having sex then they are reminiscing about rape. Both of them. Not sure why a woman author thinks a woman chained to a bed and raped for a year would enjoy any sexual contact from anyone, let alone a guy who thinks he deserves sex from her after a shotgun wedding. The memories of her rape attacks make the story so uncomfortable that any love scenes with her new husband seem super unrealistic. She does make some small attempts to stop him but he seems to figure she’ll like it in the end so doesn’t stop. In turns he is kinda caring but often just as rape-like as her other abusive encounters. For a recreational read with a supposed love story there are too many disturbing elements to make this enjoyable. I did want to continue with the story, but it got to a point where I started fast forwarding because it was too much like pulling teeth and rubbing myself with sandpaper or being pecked to death by ducks.
