The queen is back.... Her hair is white, her grin is nasty, and she's a little pissed. The war is about to get a whole lot bigger. A breakthrough with the Etheric has given Bethany Anne an edge - and an opportunity to take the fight to the Ooken. What is a good Queen to do when not-so-good neighbors become royal pains in the ass? Baba Yaga comes out to play. Family drama on Devon isn’t the only thing standing in the way of Bethany Anne’s liberation of Moen.

The Ooken thought they upset a small but tough set of aliens. They had no idea the level of pain Bethany Anne was willing to bring. You don’t hurt Bethany Anne’s people, because the gloves come off and get destroyed, never to be placed back on again. The children have had to grow up, and quickly. Will they handle the new responsibilities that come with their new bodies? Or will the experiment fail? War is coming. Who will be the victor? Each side believes they know enough, but Bethany Anne gets a stark reminder that the fog of war cuts both ways.

Ok, I am heartbroken, over the loss but no one lives forever! Thanks for the journey so far, I love this series, the authors and narrators notes are great, they may not be everyone’s cup of tea but I for one enjoy them, yes MA you do say thank you each book! Don’t like killing of characters that have become family.
I enjoyed this book for the most part except for the killing of a character that I care about. You would figure the author would learn not to kill off characters after killing off BAs love interest. The character was unique and nobody else was like her in the series. A poor choice as far as I’m concerned. If I was a Facebook aficionado I would be blasting the author even as I write this review. The story itself was very good and interesting, still don’t like kids in science fiction books but all in all pretty interesting like I said I wish I could give it a five but unfortunately c’est la vie PS Emily’s narration was spot on as usual. If you haven’t read the book I suggest you do so everything can’t be peaches and cream.

KGE family get together & one step closer
**Spoilers** BA & Michael conclude it’s safer for Alexis & Gabriel to use the Vid-Doc again to fast forward to age 19. Trey also needs the protection of being older, and K’aia joins them. New nanotech allows Jean to deliver on a long held dream of BA’s. Anderle writes a get together of most of the KGambit cast of characters, along with THWalton & Char, and the mythical Nickkie and one of her crew. I wasn’t sure whether to laugh at BA calling Bobcat and William, Tweedle Dumb Ass and Tweedle Dammit, but wonder if they’ll provide more laughs now that they’ve been called on by BA, along with Marcus & Tina, to work their wonders. I didn’t hear any mention of Frank Kurns et al. Anderle references the missing Anne, Etheric Researcher, and 2 of Asher’s pups, who I hope we’ll see rescued in a future book. As for the almost invisible critter haunting the Hexagon, I’m betting on a hitchhiker that was one of the disappearing first prisoners released when BA rescued the Collective. Most of the book covers BA, Michael, the Bitches & Guardians traveling to Qu’Baka to help Mahi’Takar take back her reign, and maybe killing a Kurtherian or two. And Demon deciding to be a hitchhiker. Beresford does a great job voicing different characters and is the voice of the series, but has several mispronunciations in this, and the last 2 books. Unusual after 24 Bethany Anne books, then we get 3 with this notable issue. Is there a new producer or editor?

Warning! Chapter 24 is not the last chapter.
FIRST I found that somehow the author notes got slotted in after chapter 24 and before the final chapter 25. I have reported it and hope it can be fixed. But, if not just beware of this and continue past the notes until you hear Emily say Fini. SECOND, I loved the book and I'm hungry for the next. This book is filled with fast paced action and great characters Valarie is back and sorting out the wrong done to those she needs to protect. She also may have uncovered some important information on the seven that they might wish she hadn't found.
