Publisher's summary

Hot Southampton doctor Carson Reynolds isn't the kind of man Gemma Carr should be playing with. But his offer of a fake engagement comes with sexy, late night house calls, and despite her bad girl reputation, it's been far too long since she's taken two and called anyone in the morning.

When Carson sees Gemma at a charity event, he knows he has to have her. It's been ten years since he's had her in his arms, but that hasn't lessened his intense need for her. To save her reputation and get his parents off his back, he makes her an offer she can't refuse.

It's the perfect set-up—until this fake engagement starts to feel a little too real....

Contains mature themes.

The story line

I love a good story. This author made it hard to stop listening cause it was so engaging. You never get bored or like some books don't care how they end. This one I listened to from the time I started to the very end.

Feel-Good Story

This was a nice feel-good book, but did seem kind of YA to me. Except it did have some decent spice. The characters definitely came across as very young, but maybe that was because of the way the narrator read the story. I didn't love the narrator, but she was tolerable. Her female character voice was a little annoying for the main female character, but was actually decent for the male character. Some of the story and small dramas feel a bit drawn out, but just when I was ready to skip ahead the story would move along. Overall this was a light, mostly enjoyable HEA book. No book hangover, no huge heartbreak or ugly tears. There is a short breakup, but it's resolved pretty quickly and we get the HEA we all knew was coming. The H is so sweet and kind, I absolutely adore him. The h slightly annoyed me from time to time, but not enough to make me want to stop listening.

Meh

Lots of potential, but any possible tension was erased: the parents were lovely, making Carson’s motivations irrational; the evil socialite was dealt with quickly; neither character has any real obstacle to being with the other — including (even though the author tried to add them) the manufactured mental ones (which is fine for delightfully lighthearted, or couples who work together against conflict; or any kind of other conflict at all); it was neither funny nor angsty and none of the characters or plot points were developed enough for me to care. It was kind sexy, but without tension built up, even that fell flat. Disappointing.
