Easier to understand

Third book on this subject I've tried in a year and this is the easiest to understand. As someone else said, its well laid out, well narrated and feels realistic. I feel a lot happier and calmer lately thanks to the exercises in this book.

Fascinating

A fascinating book that taught me a lot of things I was not previously aware of, 90% of which has been easy to apply to my life. I always thought emotional intelligence is a sort of weird idea, but now it all makes sense and I am already seeing the results of how much it can change life.

Captivating!

Being new to the whole emotional intelligence concept, I went in search of the perfect “beginner” book. Emily did a WONDERFUL job of teaching not only the importance or EQ, but also gave real life scenarios that truly made me take a few steps back and self-evaluate. This book has helped me in many ways and I’m eager to continue learning more about EQ. The narrator did a lovely job of reading and was very pleasant to listen to and easy to follow. *HIGHLY* recommend!!!

Surprised at this one

Surprised at not only how good and original the content was but how easy it was to follow and to understand. I preferred the second half of the book but it was all great.

An interesting take on EI

An interesting take on EI, looking at it from a different but in some ways more simple way than other methods. Been using it a lot and so far so good with the results.

Excellent guide to a difficult subject

As my headline says, this is an excellent guide to a difficult, or least much mis-understood, subject. I got this mainly to improve my social skills and relationships and it is definitely helping. I feel calmer, more confident and most importantly for me, more in control.

Actually really good.

I am a sucker for this sort of book, I have many in this genre about improving yourself and I can confidently say this is one of my favorites. I love to listen to this on my way to work.

Great listen

The first half spent too much time talking about the importance of Emotional Intelligence. Once it got started however it gave useful tips and examples to drive home the points. I would recommend.

Very very good.

I had previously struggled to make sense of Emotional Intelligence but finally it makes sense. I am seeing improvements in various areas of my life (confident and relationships mainly) already.

One of the better ones

I always understood emotional intelligence but until I got this book I was struggling to work out how to really use it in my life, at home and at work. I get it all a lot more now and so far so good with what I have been using. Nice to finally get a book that makes sense!

Slow start but a fantastic book

Great book and I would highly recommend. In my opinion the explanation and background of Emotional Intelligence could have been condensed a bit further to get to the best part sooner

Glad I got this book.

Bought this book a while back but only listened to it this week. Not sure why I waited so long as once I started I could not stop. Flowed really well, kept me engaged and interested throughout!

Complex, informative and hope-inspiring

In all honesty I only understood approximately 60% of this book but what I did understand has already begun to go into practise in my life.
Sometimes I found the narration a beat too fast so I had to pause to absorb what was being said.
As it's my first 'self-help' book I am amazed I understood so much as the jargon and language used is dramatically different to the other books I usually listen to.
I had read a few reviews before purchasing the book, which is something I never do but as it was a new genre to me I didn't want to waste time listening to a dud. In hindsight I agree with most of the reviews, that the first part of the book (theory) does last a little too long before going into the practise part. I was beginning to get lost in the quagmire of "theory models" and "EQ vs IQ" alliterations!
The practise section of the book wasn't as active and workshop-py as I'd hoped but I still got a lot from this book.
I chose to listen to it for personal, relationship reasons and actually ended up gaining some tips for work too which at some point will also translate to my personal relationship. So, a win-win for me!

okay content, wrong reader style

the content is good, however the reader sounds like she is reading a children's book or doing an infomercial. definitely not suitable and takes away from the value of the book. makes it sound silly.

Found this an excellent book.

EI was made to feel accessible, it approached it all from quite unique angles and give me a lot of advice.

Already feeling calmer, more confident and generally more in control

unsatisfying

suggest you look elsewhere for a more rigorous, less one sided analysis if EI. I coukd not keep inyerested in the book after one too many unsubstantiated statements.
