Publisher's Summary

The Montgomery Ink saga continues with an unforgettable romance where two best friends make a bet that could change their lives forever.

Bristol Montgomery and Marcus Stearn have been best friends for so long, they sometimes forget when they weren't as close as they are now. While friends and family think there's something beneath the surface of their friendship, the two have always been steadfast in their stance on no heated looks or deeper feelings.

The problem? Years ago, they promised each other that if neither of them was married by the time Bristol turned 30, they'd marry each other.

Even though both have long since decided never to force the other into an arranged marriage, circumstances and sheer stubbornness force them to refuse to back out of their deal.

Now, they're determined to get married - even as dangerous exes and feelings they deny, block their path.

Embraced in Ink

Narration: I loved the audio performance by Jason Clarke, it was very well done and gave such life to the characters!

Story: Of all of the Montgomery books, I think this one hits in my top favorites. I absolutely love childhood friends to lovers, but throw in this not quite arranged marriage and I am in love. Bristol and Marcus struggle with everyone already thinking that they are a couple when they are only best friends, but as a means to not lose their friendship they decide that if they are both single on Bristol's 30th bday that they will get married, but they must remain friends over the ten years to make sure they aren't marrying a stranger. Instead of bonding them closer this bargain actually strains their friendship as they both try to avoid the possibility of losing each other. I loved the twist with Bristol I honestly didn't see it coming but I am glad in the end it brought them closer together!

Cute friends to lovers romance!

One of the sweetest, most adorable friends to lovers romances ever. Nothing world-shocking or too surprising in how the relationship develops, but this is still a perfect heartwarming comfort-read. The strength of Bristol and Marcus’s friendship is never in doubt, which was nice, though they both have a little ways to go in terms of self-awareness… because of course there’s more to them than friendship. The potential and longing shimmers in the air, but nothing good ever comes easy, does it? Who’ll be the first to confess to deeper feelings, to reach for more but also risk everything they are? To make matters worse, an unexpected darkness creeps into their lives, one they are unprepared to deal with.

Narration: Jason Clarke did a wonderful job with the narration. He has a warm voice that is very pleasant to listen to and brought a lot of emotion to his performance. I liked his range of voices for all the characters and got completely drawn into the story.

love CAR!

I loved Bristol and Marcus. There is just something special about a friends to lovers story. Maybe it's the fact that they have known each other forever and know everything about each other. They have a truely strong friendship that has lasted through all of their life changes. That transition from friends to becoming lovers is never easy or seamless. It really adds to the story. CAR's audiobooks are the best. I love listening to them on my daily walks.

Emotional and charming friends to lovers romance

The audiobook for Embraced in Ink by Carrie Ann Ryan was a best friends to lovers romance with a twist! Would you take a promise you made years ago seriously? Bristol and Marcus would not think so and yet, they find themselves going down a path neither expected. Narrated by Jason Clarke, whom I love as a narrator, he truly brought this story to life for me.

When they promised each other to marry if neither was married by 30, you do not take that seriously, right? Friends since they were kids, Marcus and Bristol have always been the best of friends, but could there be more there? Though their families were excited for them, there are others who are not. Can they see what was always there before it was too late? I absolutely loved the emotional and passionate romance between these friends to lovers in Embraced in Ink by Carrie Ann Ryan. Definitely a must-read/listen!

Happy listening!

Best friends...

Two best friends and one promise. Bristol has known Marcus from a young age. They have been best friends forever. Change makes them hang on to what they have always been. I love all character, Bristol, Marcus are awesome together but they are not sure of themselves. The story has lots of heart and contains a twist completely unexpected. I enjoyed it greatly and Mr Clarke makes it even better with his deep and sexy voice.

Heartfelt

Here is another fantastic Montgomery book. Bristol Montgomery and Marcus Stearn have been best friends for forever. Will these two go forward with an old promise that they made to each other, will they allow there hearts to lead them, or will people from their past succeed at separating them. This is a heartfelt story that moves you.

The One When Besties Agree to Marry If...

You know how best-friends say if they’re not married by a certain time then they’ll get married to each other (like Rachel & Phoebe we’re picking between Ross & Joey on Friends)? Well that’s what Bristol & Marcus did on on her 20th birthday. If by her 30th they weren’t married to other people, they would marry each other. Best-friends forever. Jump 10 years and Bristols 30th birthday party and “Walla”, besties engaged. What follows is the two of them trying to figure out true feelings (and having a darn good time doing it), but not communicating as much as they should. Also add in a pompous Brit, and you know there could be some ish’s. This is the Montgomery clan, so you know it’ll be a great read! And having the whole thing narrated by Jason Clarke...yeah, no problem whatsoever listening to him reading to me for hours all by his lonesome 😍

Bristol and Marcus

This is the third book in the Montgomery Ink: Boulder series, this time it's Bristol's turn to marry. She's the only girl in the family and in the two previous books played a big part in making Arden and Holland her two new sisters part of the family so I already felt like I knew her.

On the eve of her twentieth birthday, she and Marcus her best friend make a deal, if in ten years neither of them have married they will marry each other. During the next ten years, they each date other people but neither find the "one". She goes on to become a world-renown cellist whilst Marcus becomes a librarian but their friendship is as strong as ever.

Their friendship started when they were six years old, best friends who were always together. They told each other almost everything so when Bristol's thirtieth birthday arrives neither one of them knows what to about their agreement. As they are leaving her party she jokingly turned to Marcus and said it looked like they were getting married. Her remark is overheard! From then on they are engaged but is it for the right reasons?

Neither of them is willing to look too deeply into what they feel for each other, do they want to marry? Is their friendship really love? If they don't marry can they go back to being friends or will they lose each other forever?

Add to the mix Colin, a fellow musician who Bristol once dated but with whom she still has to perform sometimes and things get even more complicated!

Marcus and Bristol will have to look deep inside themselves, they will have to decide just what they want their lives to be.

I don't want to say any more about the book because of spoilers but I will say that I could not stop listening to this book, the story and the wonderful narration by Jason Clarke made this book one of the most moving friends to lovers stories I have ever had the pleasure of listening to.

I was given this audiobook as a gift and am voluntarily writing my review.

Surprising Twist

I never expected to actually cry during this book. But I had tears rolling down my face. And what a twist to this story. Even though Bristol was the victim, she was a fighter and she was not going down without a fight. I guess growing up with 3 was a good thing.

I like that the Montgomery's gave them space. I think they knew something wasn't right, but they figured they would figure it out without them meddling. Except for Aaron. I can't wait for him to get his book. I hope Bristol gives him grief after the way he treated Marcus. I was surprised at how calm Liam was during his conversation with Marcus at the hospital. But I thought what he said was perfect when he gave the ring to Marcus: Figure out what it means.

This has been my favorite book so far and I thought it would be hard to top Ethan, Holland and Lincoln's book. So Ms Ryan, you have outdone yourself.

Jason Clarke is WOW. Just WOW. He manages to show anger, frustration, love, friendship, jealousy, lust and love. And the British accent wasn't bad either.
