It's comforting to imagine that superstars in their fields were just born better equipped than the rest of us. When a co-worker loses 20 pounds, or a friend runs a marathon while completing a huge project at work, we assume they have more grit, more willpower, more innate talent, and above all, more motivation to see their goals through. But that's not at actually true, as popular Inc.com columnist Jeff Haden proves. "Motivation" as we know it is a myth. Motivation isn't the special sauce that we require at the beginning of any major change.

Embrace This Book!
Whether you’re already a fan of Felicia Day or not, this book is sure to be a delight - the audiobook especially so, thanks to the author’s engaging performance as reader. In fact, if you’re torn between the physical book and the audiobook, I highly suggest opting for the audiobook. It comes with a 42-page printable PDF of activities and illustrations referenced throughout the book, and it is suggested that you keep a notebook handy for some exercises.
So, what exactly is this book? It’s an enthusiastic guide to exploring your creative side, not being bogged down by self-doubt or criticism, feeling proud of the things you make, and never giving up. And it’s read so incredibly enthusiastically, that it makes you want to get out there and do!
I myself went straight through without actually doing the activities/exercises, knowing that I will be giving this a second listen, at which time I will be doing them. But I could even see myself giving it further listens down the road, as its whole approach is like a friend you can turn to when you’re in a creative rut.
The author’s narrative style is casual, often comical, and endlessly charming, and the information she conveys is well-researched, expertly assembled, and endlessly helpful at sparking (and maintaining) creativity, and feeling good about yourself. It’s clear that she put a lot of time, effort, and heart into this book, and I cannot imagine it being any better than it is.

Great, but the audiobook isn’t ideal.
As much as I love Felicia Day’s frenetic narration and enthusiasm, this is a workbook and the pdf is necessary if you don’t have the paperback. It’s not the sort of book you listen to while driving or at the gym, so it really makes more sense to read a hard copy.

Self help for embracing your weirdness
I say this lovingly because I was *smitten* with this book right from the introduction. This journal + quest + finding yourself journey is a MUST for anyone looking for the next step in life, the next "how do I start" mission, the next, " I really want to..." - if you are stuck, not sure where to begin or plague yourself with self doubt... stop it! Pick up this book or do the audio, because Felicia is hilarious and I could listen to her all day and now I want to be her bff even more, and stop beating yourself up! EMBRACE YOUR WEIRD YA WEIRDO and go forth into the world knowing you are awesome and whatever it is that you want to do next, is needed. I loved this book even if I didn't qpply all the excercises now, I know I will refer to this one often! This is the ultimate self help book served up nerd style. You will not regret!

Inspriring - Awesome! Will share with my 10yr old!
Loved it. This book has inspired me to create more and more. I listened to it and did not complete the pdf of exercises, I plan to go through it with my 10 yr old. Felicia Day explains away issues I have felt all of my life. it has even given me a newfound courage to join a book club and tell them that I I pretty much only listen to audiobooks - it's the way that I consume books. That is what I am drawn to and should stand up for myself instead of being a closet audiobook listener. ha!

disapointed
I head this book through audible, where it was read by Felicia her self, and that might have influenced my opinion.
This is a book where Felicia Day is rambling on and regurgitating motivational posters and self-help ideas. I got halfway through the book, and I felt that the amount of original thoughts was to low to have paid the full price for this book.
I loved "you are never wierd on the internet" but I don't like this one

Inspiring and Readily Applicable
I wasn't sure what to expect from this audiobook when I got it, but I did enjoy Felicia's autobiography as an audiobook, so I figured this would be fun. But wow, a book literally filled with creativity prompts and encouragement may be EXACTLY what a lot of us need to get out of our creative ruts.
Once I got started, I was worried that this would be overly fluffy or with no real direction. But instead, I really appreciated all the different exercises Felicia crammed into this book and now I need to listen to this title a few more times just to document all of them and figure out which ones I like the most or may even consider doing on a regular basis.
It's a charming title and quite the creative firestarter and more creatives, whether you're a writer, game designer, or visual artist, can totally benefit from this. Be weird. Let your crazy out into the world. I'll be right there with you struggling to do the same thing.
