honest story of the King

I loved listening to this book! I have been an Elvis fan all my life and while I'm only 40 and he was gone before I was born he has been an inspiration and constant person I've always looked to for an example of being a good person. this book gave me more insight into his life. will read again!

Nothing new here

Sadly Elvis”s life has been dissected by so many trying to make a buck,nothing much new could be written. But at least it sounded like it was written by a friend.

After watching the Elvis movie I felt compelled to get more “Elvis”. This book didn’t disappoint. I enjoyed the humanizing anecdotes.

An Original & Engaging Style of Narration

A well written book with edgy narration. A little different to many other Elvis biographies in the way it was told. The author, Pamela Clarke Keogh, obviously loves her subject, the narrator, Anna Fields (who was terrific), conveyed the same. A great job! The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars were the few timeline innacuracies and omissions. Although some interesting factoids I hadn't heard before were a huge plus. Rather Jerry Schilling and Priscilla-heavy in reference with no mention of First Cousin, Billy Smith who was very close with Elvis since Billy was a little boy (Elvis being 8 years his senior, claimed to have "Raised Billy.") Major kudos for exploring the obvious deep and lasting love between Elvis & Ann-Margret. I would recommend this book most definitely. Thank you for your hard work and research.

This is one of the best biographies I've read about Elvis Presley. It is all at once thrilling, transparent, respectful, and yet heartbreaking. A hagiography in the best sense that tells the story of a talent that changed the world.

Didn’t want it to end

This is the only book I’ve ever read about Elvis and I won’t be listening to another. It was fascinating and kind to The King but still speaks of his faults. I learned a lot having known so little about him. It felt like I had a front row set. What a decent and giving man! The narrator is perfect with her matter of fact tone. She obviously read this with love and I found her to be perfect for the subject matter. Thank you Anna for the ride along
