Publisher's summary

Ella loves fairies. She reads books about fairies, makes fairy villages, and has a fairy door in her room. And she is sick and tired of everyone telling her that fairies aren’t real. She is determined to convince her parents, her friends, everyone at her school, and the whole world that fairies are real. When her little brother, Leo, finds a mysterious key hidden in an old barn, strange things begin to happen. The key might just unlock the secret of fairy magic and Ella might have her chance to prove to everyone that fairies are real. But someone else wants the key, too. And only Ella and Leo can protect the key and save the fairies.

Magical fun for kids and their adults

Ella and Leo Saves the Fairies was another fun listen. The story had enough magic to be fun for the kids without being saccharine for adults. A great performance and a cute story, I’d absolutely recommend for a family car ride or laid back rainy day.

AKA: Ella & Leo Saved Our Car Trip.

After listening to the first book in the series, this book about Ella and Leo threw me off a bit. I expected it to have some continuity from the Ella and Leo's escapades with the ROARS in book one, so when this began with them a bit older and with no STEM context I had to mentally reset to enjoy this book as a stand alone story. That being said, it's very entertaining and the characters not only save the fairies, but they saved my sanity on a multi hour car trip with my five children.

My kids really enjoyed the journey from craft store supplies to theatrical suspense Dave Reed creates here. Breaking into Ella's world of imaginative play - aka her room - Leo's (all too relatable) lack of impulse control unlocks opportunities for Ella to experience something magical that all kids (regardless of their sibling's role) can appreciate. I found the story to be all the more entertaining with how Bonniejean Boettcher uses inflections and brings parental humor into the telling.

I am hopeful for more books by Reed and read by Boettcher to be published here soon! Even if the books' stories don't run together one after the other, they are fun, light hearted and well done.
