Living, loving, and dating in Los Angeles, or anywhere for that matter, has never been more complicated. Ella is no different than any other woman out there, falling for the wrong ones, ruining the good ones, and still just trying to keep her head above water when it comes to the world around her. But navigating the evolution of love in the 21st century can easily become a full-time job.

In the debut episode of Ella & LA, the concept of virtual dating rules becomes Ella’s new obsession, and not in a good way. Her three best friends have survived up to that point, but the complications within the world of dating can get pretty brutal, especially when the ever-scrolling ones and zeros are dictating expectations before women ever manage to leave the house, much less pursue a long-term relationship.

Ella isn’t about to just give in to the expansion of one of humanity’s most primal instincts, flashing her every move across social media just to find a mate. After all, it worked in the 20s just fine. Why fix something that ain’t broke? But when the idea is put into Ella’s mind, it becomes impossible to shake.

Will Ella’s desperation to keep the guy, force her to drop her opinion on the internet and pick up a selfie stick? Or will sticking to her guns cost her everything but her pride?

I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review. This was like a younger Sex and the City. I loved it. It was very real. Social media has such an influence on today's dating scene. I loved the girls so much! I would read more from this series and this author. I also loved the narrator.

I loved it! I got so immersed in the story, that I felt as the invisible fifth friend, present in their meetings, listening and ready to give advise! The story is nice, down to earth, engaging, difficult to put down. Loved the narration too!

Ella & LA: The Viral Affect... Season 1: Episode 1

I must admit I probably am too old for this book, that others compared to Sex and the City. I can not compare because I have not watched TV in many many years.

Four girlfriends live together. Each has their own dating style. Each has their own personality and view on social media. The way they interact with each other and

support each other is heartwarming. It was a nice quick listen.

The narration was OK, But I wonder about the choice of a male narrator. The characters were well portrayed by Daniel James Lewis.

I was pleasantly surprised by this book! I'm not usually one to read (or watch) a romantic comedy, but it reminded me of living with my college roommates, talking about the guys we were dating in the midst of the social media boom. I automatically connected with each character, but I also saw my friends in them. Overall, it was an enjoyable, quick listen and never boring with multiple character plots. I do wish we got some deeper backgrounds on the characters to flesh them out and get to know them better, but their relationships with each other were incredibly heartwarming. Well done, Stephanie Kline, you made me reminisce on times spent with my closest friends!

The narration was great. I felt like emphasis on certain words and some pauses during sentences were misdirected. It didn't bother me too much, though. Although having a male narrate a tale from the perspective of four women has had some speculation, I don't think it took away from the story at all!

Fun and Entertaining!
