The Prophet of Fire

The importance of Elijah to the Abrahamic tradition cannot be over emphasised. Whereas as Noah is the harbinger of the deluge,it is Elijah who is prophesied to return in the End Times as the harbinger of Armageddon, according to the last book of prophesy of the Old Testament (Malachi 4:5).

The major prophets of the Bible include: Noah, Abraham, Moses, Elijah and Jesus. Of these prophets, Elijah is the least familiar to the public at large in spite of his pivotal role in eschatology. Ostensibly, Elijah’s nemesis, Jezebel, has made a bigger impact upon the public imagination.

Arguably, the primary reason Elijah has been disregarded by popular culture is because he cuts a rather daunting figure very much at odds with the Jesus narrative. This, to some extent, has been addressed by this heavily modified redaction, which incorporates verbatim the original scripture from the King James Bible pertaining to Elijah.

Where as Jesus is persecuted by his enemies and the ruling class, Elijah sees to the destruction of his enemies and the whole of the ruling class. Elijah brings about what today would be considered a leftist revolution akin to the French Revolution whereby those upon the highest echelons of power are utterly destroyed.
