Edge of Glory has been sitting on my TBR for a while and decided to give it a go after reading a few dark romances. It was the perfect book to help lighten things up. I loved the premise of the over protected daughter falling for the famous, hunky olympic swimmer!

The narration was great! Kassiopia DeVora was perfection!

Enjoyable

I enjoyed this book. The story is very sweet, fun and overall enjoyable. The narration was good and kept you entertained. I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

Sweet

The Edge of Glory is a sweet love story. The characters felt young to me, leaving me feeling like it was more YA than NA. At times it reached for NA, but didn't quite pull it off. It was still a decent story, maybe just not what I was expecting.

It felt so young

Okay, I get that this is supposed to be NA but it reads a lot more like a really young YA instead. It wasn't bad but I felt like I was listening to a story about a pair of 15-year-olds, not a 20-year-old and a 20-something. There's a vast difference in maturity level between those ages or at least there should be. The narrator added to my feeling that this was about teens. Again, she wasn't bad but her voice and reading style comes across as VERY young.

I've listened to other books by this author and they definitely felt more mature than this one. I wouldn't discourage people from listening but adjust your expectations toward a YA vibe.

Love this athlete crush fantasy come true

I can't express my love for this story enough! Lia is an old school punk loving college student who works in her strict parent's restaurant. All she wants is to get out of her town of Friendship, Texas and go to her dream college in California. One night she serves Olympic gold medal winner Jay Morningstar and his friends/team mates and her boring life is changed. Feelings quickly happen for Lia and Jay. Did I mention that he is her celebrity crush? Like she has a poster up in her room. Talk about a fantasy come true. But Lia has to learn to take down her walls and let Jay in. Especially when an ex and the media come into the picture. I loved Lia. She was such a real character. She made mistakes, had doubts, let her stubbornness get in the way. Any girl can relate. And no wonder she fell hard for Jay. I did too! He would be a reason to get into competitive swimming. I loved their story and I can't praise this story enough. It's a must read/listen. And this narrator really brought it all to life.

Cute Sweet Love Story

This was my first Magan Vernon's book. It's a fun and sweet story, perfect for a summer listening. The narration was well done and easy to listen. I received this free review copy audiobook at my request and I have voluntarily left this review.

Cute sweet romance

Edge of Glory is a cute, sweet romance about a small town waitress who meets and falls hard for an Olympic gold medal swimmer. Lia is adorably quirky and naive. She is living sheltered by her loving family but dreams of going to school in a big city.
Jay can’t help but fall for her but he comes with a famous family and a bit of a media circus following.
I listened to this on audiobook and the narration was wonderful and completely entertaining.

A fun sports romance

When I first started this book, I thought it was going to be too young for me, but I was wrong! Jay Morningstar comes to Friendship, Texas to continue his swim training. Lia is a 20 year old woman, who is still under her parents' thumb. This coming of age story is funny and loving, with a little bit of drama thrown in. As an Olympic gold swimmer, Jay is in the limelight, followed by paparazzi, always in the mix of social media. Lia is sheltered, inexperienced and unable to deal with it all. I love the interaction between these two, it's sweet and real. With some fun from both families, we follow the relationship and growth of these two as they reach the Edge of Glory!

Kassiopia DeVora has the ideal voice for new adult narration. She gives Lia a young sound, with all the uncertainty and vulnerability she has. DeVora also does a wonderful male voice for Jay, with confidence and compassion.

Crazy Love Story

I got this story via audiobook boom and this is my voluntary review. This is a whacky coming of age story filled with humor and plot twist. The celebrate swimmer meets the twenty-year-old virgin who is cowered by her family that she loves but longs to move to California. Her older brother who is always giving her a hard time but is her best ally. The narrator made the humor great and the story was well developed. I enjoyed the story.

I liked this book. The story was a lot of fun to listen to and the characters were very likable. Rosalie and Jay were very cute and I liked how casual their relationships was. Rosalie comes from a close Italian and they were so funny. Rosalie's brother Sunny was really funny, her parents were a bit overprotective, but very loving.

Rosalie and Kay's relationship was very cute for the most part. There is a bit of dramma when they are thrown into the spotlight and in front of cameras. But for the most part I really liked them together.

Kassiopia DeVora was excellent. She did a great job with Rosalie's southern accent and her parents Sicilian accents. I am looking forward to listening to more books narrated by her. If you want to listen to a really great narrated book about a Olympic swimmer and the girl he falls for then this book is for you.

Sweet romance in a small Texas town

This is a sweet story about young love between a small town girl and a celebrity, mistakenly bad-boy, Olympic swimmer. It has all the angst, challenges and sweetness of new found love. The protagonists are unsure as they traverse the complexities of instant attraction. Added to that, Rosalia has her super protective Sicilian family and Jay has his celebrity status (and all the drama, including a possessive ex-girlfriend, that involves) to contend with. Both provide plenty of obstacles but love rises to the occasion.

I enjoyed the humour, the drama and the emotional angst involved in this story. I loved how natural and relatable Rosalia is. And I especially liked how Rosalia's normal life coupled with her quirky personality and realistic insecurities are exactly what Jay appreciates about her.
