The end of her high-profile broadcasting career came too soon for TV journalist Alison Reynolds—bounced off the air by executives who wanted a ""younger face."" With a divorce from her cheating husband of ten years also pending, there is nothing keeping her in L.A. any longer. Cut loose from her moorings, Ali is summoned back home to Sedona, Arizona, by the death of a childhood friend. Once there she seeks solace in the comforting rhythms of her parents' diner, the Sugarloaf Café, and launches an on-line blog as therapy for others who have been similarly cut loose.

But when threatening posts begin appearing, Ali finds out that running a blog is far more up-close and personal than sitting behind a news desk. And far more dangerous. Suddenly something dark and deadly is swirling around her life . . . and a killer may be hunting her next.

The story is so good. Had me from the jump! But what was that weird porn music at completely random times?!?!

Great story! But…

I enjoyed this book but down the music interspersed in the chapters totally unnecessary and annoying please remove it

my thoughts

the music between some chapters did nothing to enhance the story and actually harmed next chapter vocal. also a few times the vocals repeated them selves.

noise

The story is great, the person who performed it is very good. But at the beginning of every chapter and in the middle of every chapter is a little musical interlude. I love good music. This was NOT good music. It was a very annoying little jingle that was sometimes playing over the narration. I haven't come across another audio book that did this and I hope that I don't in the future.

Great story, annoying music

The story might have been ok had there not been terrible music between chapters with people talking over. Hard to listen too. The narrator was fine, she was easy to listen too. The story was kind of slow and the MUSIC was terrible. Super distracting.

Boo to the music between chapters!!

I liked the whole story...the characters...everything. I like J A Jance books with all the various lead characters

Ali Reynolds relationships to family and friends

The story was good - interesting characters, good plot, nicely paced.

The narrator did a very good job as well.

Whoever decided to insert that “music” that overlapped the narrator should be fired. The music had nothing to do with the story, it was disruptive and unpleasant. Terrible terrible idea.

Good story, but what is with the music??

would be easy better without the random music through the book. overall story was excellent. great book
