Six years after a shocking tragedy left her emotionally and physically scarred, Ember Jones lives a life of quiet isolation in Barcelona. Determined to keep her troubled past a secret, she keeps her head down and her heart locked up tight. Until the day a beautiful, mysterious stranger walks into her life, and her carefully controlled world is shattered forever.
Christian McLoughlin is unlike anyone Ember has ever met. Wealthy, cultured, and utterly charismatic, he also has dark secrets of his own. They succumb to the undeniable pull between them and embark on a passionate affair, but things turn explosive when the truth about Christian and the reason he came to Barcelona is exposed. As their dark pasts collide, the two unlikely lovers find themselves caught in a web of danger and deceit that neither of them might survive.

Another sexy read.. I finished this this morning at about 1:30 and started Darkness Bound, hopefully the last book in the series. I don't know about anyone else but I'm really tired of so many cruel and depraved bad guys. And now we find out that Caesar's father, grandfather and great-grandfather were just like him? Whew, I'm sure glad they're all dead. AND we have Thirteen and the Albino, along with Caesar as bad guys. Geez, enough already. I'm thinkin' Darkness Bound will be my last book, whether it really is or not, as I'm tired of the horrible and disgusting things done in these books. With all that's going on all the time I'm surprised the author would go into Ember having such a serious case of "survivors guilt." Her thinking was a little screwy sometimes but she was still really likable. As was Christian. The Ikati are so wonderfully described as being beautiful in human form and in panther form too, the author does a great job in the telling.
Asher has become one of my favorite characters. He does love Ember and is very protective of her. He's a great friend.
Also likable were Dante, Clare and Corbin.
As to the narrator: Another great job by Angela Dawe. I know most of her men sound the same but at least they sound like men. There's nothing worse that a love scene where the female narrator just reads the book and the hero and heroine both sound like woman. As long as the men sound like men I'm ok with them all sounding alike.
Great read.. Slight SPOILER..
